We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Buenos Aires. The hotel is situated in a good location of the city in the Retiro district, within easy walking distance to the pedestrian area lined with restaurants and shops. Decent breakfast buffett and friendly hotel staff. We were very happy with the accommodations and loved the area. The rooms were spacious and very clean-- they also included a large bottle of water complimentary in our room each day. Would consider staying there again if ever back to visit the city.

A two night stay was booked after our cruise to the Rio Carnival.
We did request a corner room with double aspect windows on a higher flooor bur as this room was not available until 3pm, we were able to have immediate access to room 101 on the first floor overlooking the street entrance.
The front office staff were very welcoming and provided all information we required.
The large bedroom and large bathroom/shower was a bonus. Adequate and quiet air con was in place. However, our only comment would be to use newer hand/bath towels as the ones in place were well worn/hard.
Breakfast was taken in a basement area but was very good and most items were available inc bacon/scramled eggs etc.

The hotel was only about 10 minutes walk from the busy Florida Street Shopping area and a local steak restaurant ( EL Mirador ) was 12 minutes walk thro a lovely quiet street towards the busy main thoroughfare.

The only problem we encountered was on departure to the International Airport, a private car was ordered by the hotel at a cost of $25 ( paid to driver ) but when the vehicle arrived, it was an old Citroen Van Type with the driver being at least 80+ years old!
After 10 minutes, along the 8 lane central road, another car driven by a young lady slammmed into the rear of our car! This caused some delay and traffic choas as the parties exchanged details. The accident was NOT the fault of our elderly driver.
However, when we reached the airport, the rear hatch would not open due to the accident and so the large cases had to be hauled over the rear seats.
This caused some delay in our journey.

We would recommend a stay here.

Dear Peter, Thank you for writing such a detailed and valuable review about your stayed, and specially for recommending us! It is nice to read you enjoyed our privileged location near several renowned restaurants and some of the most important shopping streets as Florida and Santa Fe Avenue, but most of all we are glad you are satisfied with the attention received and that we could assist you on on providing the necessary information to fully enjoy your visit to Buenos Aires. Thank you for you recommendation about the towels, we try to renovate our white clothes regularly and probably the ones you had are close to be replaced. We really regret the serious incident you had with the car on the ride to the airport and are really glad you are all fine and you could reach the flight in time. Thank you for choosing us, looking forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Buenos Aires. Kind regards, Gustavo A, Manager

About 20 minutes walk from Recoleta cemetery, also 20 minutes walk from Colon theatre. Very friendly staff especially breakfast staff. Breakfast has everything you could want cereal, bread yoghurt, milk, cheese, good quality pastries, tea and coffee. Small gym we never used and a terrace on the top floor. Safe area of the city. Only thing I would have liked would have been a mixer/lever tap on the bathroom sink rather than separate old fashioned ones for ease of use/hygiene purposes.

We would certainly stay here again should we return to Buenos Aires. Our family stayed here in 2 rooms for 2 nights precruise and found it to be a great choice. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful and most working there spoke English.

It’s a small hotel with 4-5 rooms on each of its 8 floors. Rooms were good size and very clean. Breakfast was served in the -1 floor eating area that had plenty tables/seats and included a good choice of items. Brewed coffee was available along with options such as cappuccinos, lattes etc which were made to order.

It’s in a great location with several restaurants nearby and an easy walk from the pedestrian traffic only Florida Street with countless shops and eateries. It also has a large grocery less than a block away named “Disco” that has everything including a large selection of wine.

We stayed here 4 nights and pre arranged a hotel shuttle pickup from the airport as we were struggling to get local currency before we left and therefore couldn't rely on getting a taxi. Pick up was perfect despite our flight being about an hour late in arriving. We got to the hotel prior to the advertised check in time but the receptionist assisted us in getting into our room early which was greatly appreciated after a long haul flight overnight. Whilst all the staff were excellent, Francesco was the person we had the most dealings with. He was very professional, happy to assist with arranging taxis, advising og local restaurants to go to and general information. Brilliant service provided. Room was clean and tidy with plenty of space. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice. Breads, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and a couple fo hot dishes which gave you a good start to the day. Hotel was located in a quiet area but very central to a lot of tourist attractions. Would happily go back and would recommend the hotel to anyone thinking of going to Buenos Aires.

I feel like about $100 USD in Buenos Aires is exactly the right value for this good location and nice hotel. Clean and roomy with nice window view; ask for a corner room if possible. Breakfast is great except for the eggs, but the made to order specialty coffees and other food options make up for it. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed there at the beginning and end of our trip around Argentina and left luggage there safely. Each room has one electrical outlet that is adaptable to multiple countries. (Works for U.S. electronics and hair appliances.) This is the only hotel we stayed at in Argentina with this, and it is really handy. The blow dryer provided in the room is definitely what you expect in a hotel - takes forever for long thick hair. But it’s no different than what is provided in any hotel, and it least it is provided.

The Carles is in a great Retiro location. It is very central and close to the metro. It is also a safe area to spend evenings in with a number of restaurants in easy reach. The rooms are comfortable, modern, and well appointed. We were concerned they may be a little small for a 4 day stay but our fears were unfounded, space was never an issue. One gripe is that towels were a bit rough and our gowns were shredded at the edges. Each level has only 4 rooms so there is minimal noise from other guests.

The reception staff were amongst the best I have come across. Extremely professional and genuinely pleasant. All spoke excellent English as well. The Carles also loans SUBE cards to access the metro and buses.

Superb value for the rate we paid and delighted we stayed here.

Dear Jhon, Thank you for sharing your experience at The Carles! It sounds like you had a great stay overall, with a prime location, comfortable rooms, and excellent staff. It's always reassuring to hear that the hotel is in a safe area and has easy access to transportation and restaurants. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the towels and gowns. That's definitely something that the hotel should address to ensure guests have the best possible experience. Nonetheless, it's great to hear that the noise level was minimal, which can be a big factor in a relaxing and enjoyable stay. It's wonderful to hear that the reception staff were some of the best you've come across, with professionalism and genuine friendliness. Being able to communicate in English is always a plus for international travelers as well. Overall, it sounds like The Carles offered superb value for your stay, and you were delighted with your decision to stay there. Thank you again for sharing your review! Kind regards, Nicolás Pirillo.

One of the best hotels we stayed in throughout our trip in Argentina. Beautiful room in a good location for walking. We were in a corner room with two French doors that when closed, really helped cancel out the sound from the street. The staff are exceptional from the reception desk to the breakfast employees. Would definitely stay here when visiting Buenos Aires again!

I recently stayed at the Carles Hotel and absolutely loved it! The location in Retiro is perfect. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful and felt very safe day and night, plus it is an easy walk to Recoleta, as well as Plaza de Mayo. The hotel is in an 11-story building with only a few rooms on each floor (see photo). I reserved a suite and was so glad that I did! The room was great. Very spacious, with a living room separated from the bedroom. My suite had a balcony and plenty of windows for lots of light and nice views of the beautiful building across the street. The bed was comfortable, the heat (this was chilly June) worked perfectly and kept my room nice and toasty, and the shower was nice and hot. The furnishings were modern, with nice wood flooring. The neighborhood and hotel are nice and quiet at night (I usually wear earplugs to sleep but did not need to here). The staff was great. I was able to check in a bit early, and late checkout at 2:00. They even were able to exchange a small amount of dollars ($50) for me, and at a great rate. There is no dine-in restaurant (except for breakfast), but they offer room service for lunch and dinner and the pizza I ordered was surprisingly good (enough so that I ordered room service two different evenings). Overall I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this hotel. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Buenos Aires!

I stayed in the Carles Boutique Hotel in Retiro, Buenos Aires, on a solo trip over the new year holiday, December 2022 to January 2023.

I arrived early from my flight, at around 10:00 and went to check in very apologetic for being early. The check-in staff took it in stride, welcomed me kindly, acknowledged my Expedia status, and found a room for me so I could hit the ground running and see Buenos Aires as soon as possible.

The hotel is boutique sized. I was on the second floor, and I think there are four rooms maximum per floor. The interior was very tastefully decorated, and everything was very clean. The room itself was nice and spacious. I prefer more Scandinavian designed living spaces with modern streamlined furnishings and the Carles is not this. It has a more classic style with darker woods and colors and sepia toned photos on the wall. But I actually liked this, it felt like this living space would be like an ideal apartment in the Haussman-like buildings in this part of Buenos Aires.

The bathroom was nice and spacious, and the plumbing worked very well: the water pressure was good and temperature control was very good. I also liked the smell of the toiletries which were on earthier side.

My room rate included a very good breakfast. This includes made to order espresso drinks and bacon and eggs. I couldn’t tell what it was about this bacon but it tasted extra rich and delicious.

All the staff were very kind and went way above beyond what typical staff would do. Especially at the front desk, where you need a key card to get into the building. But I never needed to use it because the front desk person was always there to open the door for me both when I Left from and came back to the hotel.

I’ll definitely book the Carles the next time I come to Buenos Aires.

Suggest your book the transfer from home before arrival in Buenos Aires. Traffic is very bad from the airport to downtown and it will take a while to reach your hotel.
