The staff was waiting for us with recommendations and suggestions when we arrived, and again after we'd been in Patagonia for five days. Attention to detail shined through when we returned and found our stored luggage in our new rooms with a plate of cookies, a bottle or water and a note that read, "Welcome Back." The rooms are spacious...

This is a perfectly placed hotel for those who like to walk rather than take taxis. The only place we didn't walk to was to la Boca which was a bit far even for me. The rooms are great and the breakfast even better. One thing I would have liked in the room was a kettle for making tea but...

Would highly recommend Casa Calma for someone looking for friendly and helpful service, modern, stylish & very comfortable rooms, and staff that pays attention to the smallest details. My wife and I had a lovely stay at Casa Calma and genuinely enjoyed speaking with the staff along with taking advantage of the room's amenities including in-room jacuzzi. There is a...

I stayed at Casa Calma for 4 nights and I can't say enough good things. The room was spacious and had a wonderful jacuzzi tub. The location is great, easy to walk to Florida shopping and Recoleta. We found amazing restaurants and bars just around the corner. The best part of Casa Calma is the staff. The staff are very...

My wife and I stayed at Casa Calma as our first stay (and a bit of luxury) on a 6 month honeymoon around South America. The hotel is exactly as described - great central location from all of the major sites of BA and we were able to walk to all worthwhile destinations, from the Reserva Ecologica near the port,...

We just stayed one night, before travelling south, at this quiet little hotel in the Retiro district . Very nice friendly staff, lovely big comfortable bed and fine cotton bedding and excellent bathroom . Our room was more like a suite . The entrance and reception is very deceptive, you could easily walk past and not notice, but once you...

Calming stay in beautiful boutique hotel. Staff could not have been nicer- storing our bags for the weekend while we headed to Mendoza. The room was an oasis- comfy beds, fast wifi and really spacious. And the jacuzzi was a real luxury. We loved the Eco - friendly vibe. Breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay again Thanks so much...

I am a U.S. traveler, who was in Buenos Aires alone following a business trip elsewhere in the country and wanted to see Buenos Aires as long as I was in the country. I stayed at Casa Calma for three nights. I can honestly say this was a terrific hotel experience from every perspective. The rooms are very nice, comfortable,...

Stayed at the hotel last week for two days. My son booked it after reading the amazing reviews. Fabulous hotel, extremely helpful staff! We checked in quite late at night and got a very warm welcome. I remarked that it looked " very small"!!!. The receptionist smiled and said "wait till you see the room"!!!! And it was a very...

As with most of the downtown BA places the exterior is nondescript, but inside it is exquisitely modern. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the smiling staff. Our room, 801, was very nice with a jacuzzi tub. The breakfast was extensive for an Argentine spread. Special orders are handled smoothly. Being downtown it is within walking distance of many...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
