I stayed here for 3 nights after just arriving in BA. The location couldn't have been better, San Telmo is a beautiful area, cobble stone streets and full of restaurants, cafes and antique shops. My room was a loft - a nice size but with a pretty steep staircase and no external windows. I stayed during the middle of the...

Totally fabulous hotel in the best place to be in Buenos Aires. The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. The square outside the hotel is a great place to have a coffee at one of the cafes, enjoy dinner at a restaurant, watch the tango dancing in the street or pick through the bargains at the market on...

Excellent service, starting with staff who carried our heavy luggage up two flight of stairs - the elevator was being fixed, but that did not disturb us. The room was unexpectedly fancy (two levels), nicely decorated. Lots of little details to hide uninteresting views. A great terrace to relax, enjoy sunset, hear music from the Dorrego square. Surrounded by bars,...

This small boutique hotel in San Telmo, located right on Plaza Dorrego, was just perfect for our 2 night stay. The location can not be bettered for stepping out to enjoy all that is on offer in the neighbourhood. The staff were very accommodating, allowing us to securely store luggage upon our very early arrival, and helping with a restaurant...

I didn't know what to expect when I booked a room at this hotel since I usually stay at the Hilton in BA. Smallish room that's set up as a loft. It took a bit for me to get used to. Don't get me wrong, it served its purpose - to sleep in. Location wass great. Staff was great too....

If you are in Buenos Aries on a Sunday, this is a great place to stay for the weekend. On Sunday there is a huge Flea market and it's right outside this hotel. It's a sight to see. Dancing and several concerts in the street, as well as lots of food, delicious cold fruit drinks and trinkets galore. For my...

The location of this hotel is brilliant (right next to the Plaza Dorrego in San Telmho) if you want to feel the real BA! We spent an amazing Friday night sitting in the Plaza listening to music and eating dinner. I have been to BA many times for work. But this was just a great time. We could easily walk...

We asked for the room facing Plaza Dorrego for the views and atmosphere. If you want quiet, ask for a back room. The rooms are average size (or loft) with a modern look. . We loved this hotel and decided to book our last night in BA with a loft room. There is a good breakfast included. The staff here...

We ended up staying at Telmho after being bumped from a different hotel. The hotel is small, facing the main square in San Telmo with great restaurants, tango and antiques right around the corner. The boutique factor made it very intimate and friendly. The service was fantastic - everyone at the hotel was very helpful, not hesitant to chat about...

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
