I have been to many hostels this past year, some were above expectations of what a hostel should offer - which really is the basic- and some did not quite managed to reach the 'alright ' status. The Sudamerika is, in my opinion, somewhere between the two extremes. Let me explain. First of all the location is either great or...

The hostel is located in a pretty old building but the location is amazing, walking distance to the Casa Rosada. The rooms were very simple and we had to ask for blankets because they did not have it at the room. The bathroom as pretty bad compared to other hostels I saw in Buenos Aires. Overall, this is an amazing...

Cock roaches in the breakfast cereal, unhelpful staff, who when asked why there was no soap in the men's toilet, said use another one on a different floor then proceeded to continue to play with their mobiles, dirty toilets which are falling apart, loud music during the night from the disco immediately downstairs outside and loud music from the lounge...

The hostel itself has an awesome vibe, and I would consider it to be a party hostel. The reason why is that the usual crowd in the hostel wakes up at noon and goes to bed at 8am, so if you're interested in site seeing during the day and you are noise sensitive so avoid this hostel. Breakfast is included...

Nice reception staff, and fair location. All the rest simply ridiculous... roaches walking through the loo, extremely loud music until 5am (music should stop at 3am...?), party groups on nearly every floor's hall, we were able to have a nap at 8am. I inquired if we might have checked in on a Festival's weekend or similar, but apparently that was...

We all have different experiences whilst travelling but after a decade of wandering the world this is in the top three worst experiences i have ever had, so bad that i finally signed up to trip adviser to write about it. Run down, filthy, extremely loud, and frequented by groups of people you wouldn't like to meet on your travels....

this place was dirt cheap and it showed. the only reason i stayed here was that it was late, the Milhouse next door was booked, and they recommended this place. The bathrooms in this place were disgusting, the rooms were semi-decent, and the staff was friendly enough. overall, this place ranks barely higher than a dump. try to find somewhere...

A mate and I stayed here between Christmas 2013 and New Year 2014. Firstly, that's a pretty crap time to be in Buenos Aires, probably worth avoiding that! (But that's our fault, not the hostel's obviously!) The hostel's in a great location. So good in fact, that there's a club directly opposite, which was pretty loud. Luckily I'd sleep through...

For the first night I had booked a double room with shared bathroom. They gave me a triple room that was empty. The room was basic but a bit filthy. The shared bathrooms are just terrible and need some decent renovation. The most annoying thing, however, was the noise in the hall. Also there were school classes in all three...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
