I booked this hotel because I wanted to stay in more than one area of Buenos Aires during our trip. The other nights were in Palermo Soho. San Telmo is a lovely old and funky part of town. During the day there are many shops and restaurants to explore. At night many of the shops close up with metal doors...

We spent a wonderful stay. The staff is so warm and friendly that made our stay unforgettable. We will miss Gabriel, the sommelier, who surprised us every evening with a great wine tasting. The hotel location is unbeatable. San Telmo is a very native neighborhood. We loved and hope to come back soon.

My husband and I stayed for four nights which was quite an interesting experience. First the positives. We wanted to stay in San Telmo and really enjoyed staying in such a beautiful modern hotel located in one of the oldest parts of the city. The staff was great - very friendly and helpful and gave us good restaurant recommendations. We...

On our recent trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, we noticed that this bustling South American city is sprinkled with contemporary architectural treasures. The hotel Mansión Vitraux, located in the old neighborhood of San Telmo, is undoubtedly one of them. While walking in the cobblestoned neighborhood, my partner and I discovered the inconspicuous modern façade of this chic boutique hotel —...

I stayed at the Mansion Vitraux at the end of a work trip in Argentina and absolutely loved it, it's a beautiful property. It's very intimate with just 12 rooms and although I was the only guest I imagine you would still feel very much like you were staying in the home of a close friend even if there was...

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
