We needed a place to stay for a night - but ended up extending it to three. Me and two friends opted for a triple room. First off, having stayed in my fair share of hostels and hotels, this hostel had rooms of a quality you'd normally find in decent hotels: The rooms were spotless, very good shower (often hard...

This is a very nice and recommendable hostel in San Telmo. Our triple room was clean and comfortable. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful (a girl from Colombia). There is a nice and spacious lobby where you can have a drink offered at reasonable price at the reception desk. There is also a small swimming pool and computers with internet...

This hostel is in a good location if you want to explore the San Telmo region. It has a nice outside area but only a small common area inside. Our double room had a comfortable bed and a good amount of space, but there was a lot of street noise and the bathroom had no ventilation which made the whole...

Stayed here for the last 2 nights of our trip before heading back home. Paid US$119 for a room with private bathroom. Overall, we are very happy with our choice - it offered great value for money if you're looking for something in San Telmo that is within easy access to public transport and being able to walk to the...

We stayed at the Circus Hostel for one night. The place is clean and fine as a place to rest but watch out for their currency dealing. At the time of writing they offer a US dollar exchange rate of $1 to 6 Pesos but if you pay for your room in dollars they'll charge you at 1 dollar to...

We stayed here for the first 2 nights of our 3.5 weeks trip to Argentina and Chile, paying US$46 per night. In summary, we really liked the hotel. Pros: 1. Good, clean decent-sized room. 2. Comfortable beds and pillows. 3. Hot water was good. 4. People at the reception are great and helpful. For example, the girl helped to check...

The room is alright, and the hostel is alright overall, but the bad thing is that they offer things they don't have, like a heated swimming pool, and wifi/computers with internet connection and the pool was simply not heated, and the internet almost never worked, it was down 99% of the time it just sucked. Besides that, they have a...

Great location in San Telmo, just blocks away from the famed Plaza Dorrego. Modern and inviting, with such a fun, laidback atmosphere and pleasant and efficient staff. We had a double room with private bathroom overlooking the swimming pool, which tended to be quite noisy on weekends due to the revelry around the adjoining pool table room/ swimming pool area. Free...

Ask for room overlooking pool to avoid bus noise in the morning. Typical hostel breakfast included. Lots of hot water. Smoking by the pool allowed. Restaurant sells ok food at reasonable prices. No provision for self-catering. Steffi very helpful on numerous occasions.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
