If you want to spend some time in a mansion this is the place! Nothing fancy, the beds/mattresses are awful; the shower is very small, the elevator is more like a piece from museum (working at times!). Good for a day or two...but if you don't care about where you sleep, you can stay even longer. I was surprised how quiet to hotel was!

It is not as ostentatious as shown in some photos, but it is comfortable and adequate in terms of cost-service ratio. Very good location, 10 minutes from the Obelisk in Bondi. Very quiet and pleasant area. Ease of transportation. Wifi. Excellent service, I had a simple room with a private bathroom, hot water, air conditioning and cable TV. It was ideal for me, since I only went to sleep and shower each day. I would definitely return.

We stayed on the ground floor and I believe that each room has its own characteristics, so:
Positive points: service (super friendly and helpful receptionists); shared kitchen; location; met our needs.

Negative points: small room, VERY small bathroom and uncomfortable shower, somewhat uncomfortable bed and pillows; Our room was close to the kitchen, so sometimes the noise in the early morning is a bit disturbing.

Despite having more negative points, we recommend it :)

Maybe there are some nice rooms in this hotel - rooms that truly do resemble the photos on the website, however, my room was awful. I thought that I would be staying in a refurbished, elderly hotel, resplendent with stained glass windows and grand staircases, as shown on the website. In fact, the room was so poky that the door hit one of the beds as I opened it, the safe did not work, the shower was so tiny that it was claustrophobic, and the only window opened onto a passage, so the room was dingy and dark. There was no A/C, only a ceiling fan, and in Buenos Aires during the summer, that's not enough. Although I had prepaid for 4 nights, I was so distressed that the dreadful accommodation would ruin my experience of the city, after just one night I sacrificed the money I'd paid upfront, and moved to a more salubrious place in Recoleta.

The website makes the hotel look like 'shabby chic' - it's not ... it's just shabby. If you're used to staying in hotels with certain minimum standards, pay a little more and stay somewhere else. My room did not even have a chair in it, and the hotel's lift is so ancient that if someone does not shut the trellis door, the lift stays stuck on the level it's on. I've travelled a lot, and always try to reflect my experience of the accommodation as realistically as possible - so I do realise that if I pay a lemonade price, I can't expect champagne accommodation. I also always try to provide a balanced review - even if I didn't like it much myself, I always try to mention the redeeming features, as I don't want to torpedo any place unfairly. but I've stayed in backpackers that offer better facilities than Patios de Recoleta! The good location and cheap price does not compensate for the atrocious level of accommodation you will encounter at this hotel. Don't be tempted, as I was, to save a few $ because the photos on the website are so artfully taken, and make it look like you'll be staying in a cute, boutique hotel - it's not like that, and it's not worth spoiling your time in Buenos Aires to stay in a place like this!

Response from Carlos C, Director General at Patios de Recoleta
Responded Feb 14, 2020
Dear Elise, Thank you very much for your time. The reservation you made was for a room with ceiling fan, not A/C. You were able to book a room with A/C if you wanted to, 95% of our rooms have A/C, but you did not chose that option. Best Regards, Carlos

Simply horrible, out of carelessness I chose a room with a shared bathroom, I tried to change and I was going to pay the difference and I was treated very poorly!! Old, dirty hotel, tiny bathroom with no ventilation! All the worst, what a disappointment, the photos don't show the reality of the hotel

The photos are very different from the real rooms.
I had a type of laundry adapted to a room, with a leak in the bathroom and a mattress that I remember and my back hurts. Good location but not worth it. You can hear all the noises, from the toilet flushing and conversations in the other rooms. In the early morning you can hear doors slamming and generators (very loud, they wake anyone up). It seems like they are having a party at the reception because of the shouting at 3 or 4 in the morning (they are the ones who work, not tourists).
The bathroom is too small, even the shower is uncomfortable (and I'm short and thin).
The sheets with holes and the towels look like hand towels and are very worn, they even look used (unwashed, they are stained)
There is no hair dryer or adapters.
The pillows are bunched up... very bad.
I wouldn't go back and even less recommend it.
