Basically, the two more important things are: Location and Owners. Amazing, only 5 blocks of the Casa de la Rosada (pink house) and 2 blocks of Puerto del Madero. Really we stay in the hearth of Fair Market on defensa street. Nice owners, very helpful. We feel like our house. Use the room on the top of house, next the... More

Pros: Owners are very nice and try to be helpful. The breakfast was simple (pastries, juice, ham/cheese sandwiches, coffee, tea, fruit) but nice. The locations is FANTASTIC for the San Telmo market. The place sits literally on the market route. You are also relatively close to Puerto Madero (good area for restaurants) and Plaza de Mayo (A historical place). Also,... More

There is a locked door at the bottom of a dilapidated building. You climb 2 flights of narrow stone steps with all your luggage. Reception is in a bare room; a low table has well-thumbed magazines. The bedroom we were shown had a futon-type bed near the floor and very little other furniture. There was no air-conditioning though the owner... More

This is a terrific place to stay. My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights on our first ever visit to BA. Marce and Juan Jose are hugely knowledgeable and great hosts - we were quickly able to make the most of our stay following their advice on where to go and what to see. Recommend this house and... Great atmosphere and hospitality, we love to feel just like home and taste the best flavors of Buenos Aires and the beautiful San Telmo quartier. Excelent breakfast and amenities. Decoration brings the modern feeling of the city in the old constructions, and location is the best! Beside, Macela and Juan were great hostess, they help us a lot to find... More

I read all the reviews thinking this place was going to be fantastic, I was wrong. Yes it is in a great location and the owners might be friendly but my husband and I decided to eat the cost of the deposit we paid and stay some where else. When we drove up the hotel we didn't even know where... More

This is the worst b&b/hotel experience ever easily. I made my reservation online (venere.com) and there was no asking about what time I would arrive or anything. I got to the place at 7:30pm (no sign or anything on the little door) and waited for several minutes after knocking on the door and buzzing the bell until someone staying there... More

The location of the B&B is quite nice, with the San Telmo market right outside your door. It is not a quiet location in the evening, but I don't think there is much in Buenos Aires that really qualifies as "quiet." We found the hosts to be quite helpful, arranging an early checkout and taxi to the airport for us.... More

Home San Telmo ist one of the best Hotels/B&B we ever stayed at. It´s located brilliantly right where the San Telmo Fair is. Marcela and Jose and are very helpful hosts that never leave a question not answered. One thing, if you want a quiet nights sleep you should choose one of the other rooms (we had the one with... We stayed in this Guest House boutique for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The B&B is fantastically located. Breakfast was lovely and the location in San Telmo was excellent to walk to good restaurants and bars. You are also close to the Subway which is useful for the main city. I definitely recommend Home as an excellent place... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.

“Room with fair view was really big and has a balcony. It was a bit loud though when sleeping with an open window because the cobblestone Street was right under the balcony. But earplugs do the job. If your not of fan of earplugs then just choose one of the other rooms. They seem to be nice aswell.”
