Quite happy to have landed on Planet Gilles! It's a charming building and a friendly, highly knowledgeable host with great recommendations for dining, cultural attractions, fine breakfasts and congenial conversation. Well-situated in lively Palermo - heartily recommend this inn for first-time visitors to Buenos Aires.
This small boutique hotel is located near some good, affordable eateries and music venues in the hip district of Palermo. The owner is an amiable host who provides excellent recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. Good value for the money.
Not the best of timing for a visit, as major building works on the neighbouring property produced both noise and dust. Gilles, a charming and friendly host. Excellent suggestions as to where to go, and possible local restaurants. Room clean and comfy, but significant road noise, especially if you sleep with the window open, which is likely in summer. Breakfast very European, with probably some very good pastries; sadly not so impressive if you don’t have a sweet tooth and are not keen on ginger. Other reviews mention excellent scrambled eggs, but we never saw them - which was a pity, as they would have been welcomed. Good location, not too far from metro and local cafés and restaurants. Some excellent craft beer bars nearby.
I stayed for a couple of nights each, on two occasions, and I really loved this wonderful spot. Gilles could not be more helpful and accommodating. He goes out of his way to make you feel at home and spends time pointing out places to go, things to see and how best to get around. The perfect host! The rooms were compact, functional and very comfortable. The bed was comfy, the shower worked great and (even when on the ground floor), the noise level was fine. Gilles clearly has amazing taste and his home is beautiful. Location-wise I found it excellent - so central, walking distance to so many things and close to transit if needed. Next time I am lucky enough to travel to Buenos Aries I would for certain stay here again. Thanks Gilles!
It’s a nice looking hotel. But the room promised with a bath tub was not provided. False information given. Plus one night the owner Gilles rebuked a client for supposedly being noisy. All she was trying to do was operate the stupid lock system that Gilles is too cheap to upgrade. Plus I’ve overheard him criticize guests for being “American” or “English”. That type of stereotyping & xenophobia has no place anywhere. Avoid this place at any costs. If you have the slightest principles.
