The staff was so helpful in giving us direction on what to see and where to go. The location was excellent we could walk to many great bars and restaurants. Taxis where easy and cheap to get around. The water was clean and drinkable. On Christmas the staff went all out, strung lights every where and served us food and...

I had a good time for the 3 days I was here. Everyone was really friendly and hospitable and it was a good environment with lots to do in the surrounding neighborhood. The kitchen and bathrooms were well kept. Also, a band played on the outdoor patio one night and that was a lot of fun.

This place has been such a home for me. I came here not knowing anything and anyone in Argentina, I meet such great people in this place. The place is amazing; well located, so you can reach the hottest spots to visit if you´re staying for a few days. It is full with kind people so you can always ask...

Awesome location and crew. Wont find a better hostel for this price. The kitchen and dinning area are a bit small, but you wont stay there much once you check the terrace. There is a bar where you can get drinks and food, and its also a great space to chill, work, smoke a cigarette, have a chat or listen...

I can't recommend this hostel enough. I began my stay in Buenos Aires here and ended up extending several times. Why? Well, firstly it's a great location plus it's safe. I never felt worried about my safety no matter what time of the day and got to know the local area well. It's close to the centre as well as...

We had booked 3 nights in this hostel after reading all the good reviews about it, BIG MISTAKE! The whole hostel is run down, our queen bed was so uncomfy with flat pillows, bathroom in suite was a joke, so small that you can pee and take a shower at the same time! We finally stayed only one night and...

The old Parisian building is gorgeous and in a really good location. The staff are all nice and very helpful. Breakfast is good. Our private room had a balcony the overlooked the street outside which was pleasant but very noisy in the mornings. Also, image had some very noisy neighbours in the room next to ours and the wall provides...

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A great place at a great price for travellers who want to enjoy Buenos Aires while staying in a safe, central location. El Sol Recoleta is truly one of a kind. Run by a friendly staff that includes artists, adventurers and intellectuals from various countries, we're conveniently located at the southern end of Recoleta neighborhood. Sights such as the Obelisk, Plaza de Mayo, Teatro Colon, Congreso, Cemeterio de Recoleta and the Florida Street promenade are only minutes away by foot. The well preserved French-style building (1890) evokes the glorious past of the city's Golden Age, although the gritty, fast-paced and highly cultured vibe of contemporary Buenos Aires is never far.The hostel is located on three floors (sorry, no elevator, but we will help you with your luggage, no worries!). There are 4-6-bed dorms, private rooms with shared or private bathrooms. All the rooms on the 1st level have nice balconies, the 2nd level has an open-air terrace and a bar where we make most delicious pizzas and serve drinks in the evenings. At the weekends we organize concerts with local or international bands, don't miss it!The breakfast we serve is a typical argentinian breakfast with fresh pastries. "Medialunas y facturas", daily delivered from the bakery. Dulce de leche, of course :-) Plenty of coffee, milk an tea.In order to remain affordable we provide modestly decorated rooms and fewer extra services. Please remember that this is an affordable youth hostel, not a hotel. We'll go out of our way to make you feel welcome and well informed about our city.Tango shows, tickets for football matches, entrance to clubs and info about the events in BsAs - are only a few things available at the reception. We can call you a cab, arrange an airport transfer, provide you with maps of the city and the neighbourhood area.El Sol Recoleta is the perfect choice for easy-going adventurers, budget-minded backpackers and anyone else looking for a unique place to stay. Think of it as sharing a big house with other travellers.Nos vemos pronto!kind regards,Paul Gallinato and the El Sol Staff. ... more   less

“If you're looking for a dorm, choose the 6 room option. It's cheaper and actually better than the 4 room dorms. The 6 rooms have more space, located in a quieter area and have balconies. The 4 bed dorms are OK but not sure why they're more expensive.”
