There are many hostels in downtown BA, but Tanguera is probably the most affordable. My room was ok and the staff is very friendly. The people at my Spanish School told me about this place and I think that for what you get is a great option.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are on budget and is located Downtown Buenos Aires, walking distance from many spanish schools and restaurants. Staff is very helpful and professional. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. It is a friendly place. I will come back in a heartbeat, since the quality price ratio is the best.

The hostel is considerable old, but clean and with staff that actually care. Personally I only stayed for a few nights and thats all, whats I truly appreciate is the help they give me regarding what to do in Buenos Aires. For example I wanted to learn Spanish and they recommend me with the Piedras Spanish School Buenos Aires at... More

I stayed a total of 5 night there. The hotel is not easy to find from the outside as there is no sign, but the address alone is enough to find it. the building is amazing and so typical with its staircase and glass roof. It has a feel of what Buenos aires probably looked like at its summum. The... More

Stayed here for 10 nights in total. First of all, the location is just amazing. It's right in the center of San telmo, a beautiful histrical area of Buenos Aires, there are tons of restaurant and cafe nearby. The famous Sunday market is held just 2-3 blocks away from here. The staff is very helpful, friendly, organized people. You can... More

I think the main issue with this place is that the building and its interior is just old, and therefore difficult to maintain and keep looking fresh. But the price is low enough to keep you from complaining too much. The is breakfast included, it is very basic but this is normal for Argentina. The whole place needs a refurbishment... More

This hostel is ok. If you need somewhere cheap for the night, then go. It's in a good location, on the north side of San Telmo, and close to many restaurants and bars (and a particularly good steak house less than two blocks away). However it is grotty, the kitchen is not a kitchen by any decent standards (it is... More

The staff were friendly and welcoming, the kitchen cozy and good wifi. I shared a private double with friends and found the bed to be uncomfortable but the pillows were feather. Bathroom shower was not separate from toilet thus it was a bit a mess to clean up after showering. Breakfast was really good but nothing special. I would stay... More

Read the reviews and have to say - I don't see what the other folks are SO upset about. Unarguably - the location IS great - close enough to transportation to get anywhere ya need and great to walk to and from all parts in dowton. My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week. We did have a "private... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
