We have been to Córdoba twice before but this visit the selection of the Hotel adjacent to La Canada ‘river’.. more like a brook just now as water levels are low.. made for a more appreciative visit. The staff was excellent and it was great to be able to practice aside from Spanish, some French, some basic Patoi/Creole. We were so impressed with the different chefs that we ate all our evening meals in the hotel restaurant. Their wine selection is quite good thought one evening we tried their 6 year old Malbec and even after decanting it was showing signs of being OTH..Over the Hill. Our room on the 9th floor faced the ‘river’ and the tree lined street... no problem with street noise at all. Another major plus for us the layout of streets in South America made it possible for us to walk everywhere except of course from and to the Bus Terminal. Out the front door and to the immediate left is a great wine shop, and carry on straight and cross the street and immediately to your left is a small shop..service through the window type but they have some basic items such as water and a nice white wine...much cheaper than next door. With these pluses and the great service.. breakfast covers quite a few taste buds..yes even scrambled eggs and brown bread.. and not to forget the excellent March price ... we would definitely return here on any future ‘Canadian Winter’ visit.

I had a large well equipped 12th floor double room. Elevator service was good and speedy to this higher level room. House keeping was prompt, well done but towel service however was intermittent day to day. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful to solve problems and prided themselves on 24-hour guest service. Complementary breakfast was good but not as great as some reviews described it. Wi-Fi signal was strong and reliable. I had a good stay and rather liked the place. The attentive staff is a big bonus!

I travel to Cordoba often on business and have tried the Amerian, NH Panorama, Holiday Inn, and a few aparthotels. The HoJo is as close to a modern business hotel as you're going to get near the commercial center of town. Free wifi, breakfast was okay, dinners were actually pretty good, minimal gym, good service, and the location is very convenient to my office in Capitalinas and some local restaurants. The rooms are a bit run down (marks on the walls & carpets), but the sheets are clean and the interior design familiar to a business traveler. Definitely not as bare-boned as some other places in town. The walls, however, are really thin, especially if you have a shared inner door (I had to move rooms, but the staff were very accommodating about this). I think you have to set your expectations appropriately, and it will be an acceptable place to stay. I will likely return.

On our arrival the first thing we noticed was how dirty the reception area was. The lobby forms part of the breakfast area and there was food on the floor which is actually a trip hazzard.
We booked an executive suite and were left thoroughly disappointed with the room, its facilities and state of repair.
We were fast asleep at midnight when we heard loud knocking on our door. We called reception to investigate and were told a security man would be sent. Ten minutes passed and more banging on door. We called again and nothing was done. There is a CCTV stationed just above our door facing the hall so all they had to do was play back and see who was outside the room. Unfortunately noone could be bothered.
When we asked to speak to the manager the following morning a non English speaker appeared who seemed disinterested.
Avoid this place. We will certainly not be recommending it.

Response from Garabello, Gerente at Howard Johnson Hotel Cordoba
Responded Feb 11, 2020
Dear Simon: First of all I thank you for sending us your comments, for us they are very important as it helps us improve. Believe me that we are aware of the situation that you tell us about the knock on your door, as you state we have a security circuit that allowed us to see that the door they were calling was that of the room next to yours. Additionally, our security personnel went through the corridors to confirm that everything was fine. I fully understand your discomfort of not having spoken to an employee with fluent English, evidently that favored confusion throughout the situation. Even so, we believe that it would be very good to have the opportunity to receive them again and to reverse this impression. Best regards

I stayed only one night at this hotel on a business trip to Cordoba, Argentina. It is a good choice, very well located, central but on La Cañada which is a nice road with an embanked stream in the middle and large trees. The hotel is nice, spacious comfortable rooms, helpful service and good breakfast.
The negative part is the room was not all that clean. Not that it was disgusting but really for this type of hotel it was not ok. There were hairs in the bed sheets, bathtub, and a smell like someone had smoked in the room and it had not been properly ventilated. Also the architectural design is good, but even if it looks quite new, many details are not well built, faucets come off, some broken tile on the side of the bathroom, mold on the bathroom ceiling. It needs some maintenance. But overall it´s a good choice.

The Howard Johnson Hotel is located next to the Canada de Cordoba.
The Canada is a stone construction that holds rain water.
The pedestrian path is lined with many trees and bridges.
The hotel is a very safe place for solo female travelers and walking distance to Güemes.( start at San Juan Blvd and walk down Belgrano )
Bohemian Güemes has lots of restaurants, bars, clubs and shops.
The Córdoba Howard Johnson staff is friendly and helpful with information.
I needed to change dollars to Argentina pesos and the money exchange building can be seen across the street from the hotel corner.
The staff at the front desk is also available to help you book a tour with a company named, Nativos. They have day tours to the surrounding areas outside Cordoba to hike, shop, even Skydive.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, willing to find whatever your looking for. The restaurant is very good with room service that is fast and friendly. Had the Salmon once and a steak, booth were very good. The room is average with very comfortable beds. TV does have 1 or 2 channels that are in English 50% of the time, but no CNN in English as in many hotels in South America. The desk in the room is a small table with an uncomfortable kitchen chair, less than desirable. It is an older building and it shows. The bedding is clean and comfortable. The Wi-Fi is okay, but really slows in the evening when it highly utilized. Good location, not far from the center of town and plenty of shopping and restaurants.

This hotel is a safe choice, rooms are big and comfortable and internet works well. Breakfast alright too, not huge but enough to be rated OK.
There is something to improve though, for example the carpets of my room were disgusting and at the reception desk not everybody smiled and/or was able to speak English. For the price paid you would expect at least a few English words spoken and a smile.

Nice business hotel in an excellent location by La Canada river- this makes the hotel very easy to find when wandering the city. Ideal location close to the old town and the hipster Guemes district

Enthusiastic welcome (with city maps). Decent sized room with good quiet air con. The small pool area was pleasant to use- perhaps not quite as nice as in the web pictures- but quite good enough

In a country where hotel breakfasts seem identical this was just a touch nicer

Buzz about the hotel as a football team checked in- no problems at all & it was nice that the hotel let a fan stay in the lobby for ages to get his footie shirt signed.

Wasn't sure that there was always someone with brilliant English on the desk at all times but they were kind with my poor Spanish. Special thanks to Maria who sorted out a misunderstanding about laundry service over the weekend

I would recommend

My wife and I stayed 4 nights in this hotel. It has a good location on the “Cañada” avenue. The “Bife de chorizo” at the restaurant is great! Breakfast is good. Service is good too. I just did not like the fact that they assigned some cabs that I ordered through them, as a fee to the minibar consumption.
