I am traveling to the area to work for two weeks during Covid. It is such an odd time to be traveling. The Residence Inn seems to be taking all necessary precautions.

I recently lost my dachshund and traveled with her blanket, so I thought it was sweet that housekeeping would smooth it out at the foot of my bed for them. I will leave them a note and tip when I leave today.

My room was very spacious. I liked that there was a safe area to walk and get some exercise in the mornings. There are handy fast food places, and the Sprouts Organic market is only about a mile away. The kitchenette was well appointed.

I did get tired of the bagged breakfast. It consisted of juice, apple or orange, yogurt and granola. I would suggest that they consider something more substantial, like a Cliff bar. The granolas were very tiny. Almonds or string cheese would be a nice, pre-packaged protein addition.

I was very pleased with my stay. I would suggest asking for a room away from the highway. Mine faces it, and if you are overly sensitive to noise, that may bother you.

We booked two suite rooms at the Residence Inn for five nights to use as a central location while attending a wedding at nearby Villa Tuscana. The suite rooms were spacious enough to entertain others in town attending the event. There was also common spaces to use for gathering. The hotel had a friendly, efficient staff. There was plenty of off street, free parking. It is located in a neighborhood with other hotels as well as nearby shopping, eating, and recreation. It backs up against a driving range. The suite rooms have a good size kitchen area with appliances, flatware, pots and pans, plates and glasses. The bathroom was modern with a separate vanity. The king bed was comfortable. There was a tv in both the main room and the bedroom which could be closed off. There was a pull-out sofa which offered plenty of seating room for guests. The internet was free and reliable. Security was tight with key access needed for each door. The free breakfast had many warm and cold options. It was dog friendly. Overall, it was a great place to hang out and entertain others while attending the events around the wedding.

Stayed at RI Mesa in Jan for a week. Nice place. Had a hot chocolate station. Arrived super late because of 2 plane delays. I think I arrived at 3:30 am. I had called ahead of time because I get worried arriving after midnight. Sometimes hotels give away your room because they think you are a “no show.” Free breakfast. Little busy because of multiple teams. Only one waffle maker and plates and cups sometimes in short supply. Mgmt addressed the issue and it was good the rest of the week.

I stayed at this Marriott location last weekend. My first impression was that the room was somewhat rundown and not overly clean. The carpet was stained, there was a large stain on the bedskirt, and when I went to make coffee in the morning, I noticed that the coffee pot was stained as well.

I was also disappointed by the customer service, which I felt did not meet Marriott’s standard. As a gold elite member, a benefit I count on when booking travel at Marriott is the guaranteed 2 pm late checkout. I asked when I checked in, and was told that they could not arrange late checkout the night before, and I had to ask in the morning. When I called the front desk at 5 AM before leaving for a meeting from 7-12, I was told that they were “completely booked” and they couldn’t authorize late checkout. When I questioned how this could be the case, since the website still showed available rooms, I was told to call back after 7 AM to speak to the manager.

Since I was leaving for a meeting and would not be back until after the 11 AM regular checkout time, I was told that I had no other option but to check out right then, at 5 AM.

This was completely unacceptable to me, and the rudeness that I experienced in discussing this with the daytime desk clerk was disappointing.

I would not return and would not recommend this hotel.

A guest had set up his own 4-foot speaker (complete with flashing lights) at the pool side. The music he was playing was loud enough to shake the windows all around the pool. The local staff refused to enforce any kind of noise policy saying it is "reasonable" since they don't have hotel-provided music at the pool ... so people are welcome to bring their own. I took video of this and showed it to the staff at another Marriott hotel. They were astounded that this could be allowed. Basically, the Resident Inn told me that if I don't like it I should leave. So I did. I don't usually complain, but this was truly amazing. I should post the video on the internet. I bet it will go viral. It is something to behold.

Hi there F4662PUdavidb We do have music at the pool however, guests celebrating asked if they can play their music at the pool and we ensured that the music wasn't offensive and loud. Other guests also at the pool enjoyed the music and asked those guests to turn it up. Once you informed us of this situation and after we took care of the lobby of guests checking in we asked those guests to turn down the music. We understand guests like yourselves are looking for relaxation and tranquility when traveling and we try to accommodate everyone those coming to relax and those coming to celebrate and we apologize we made you feel unwelcomed. Thank you for your comments as they allow us the opportunity to continue to train and understand how we can better serve our guests.

Stayed here for 2 nights recently and was thoroughly disappointed. I typically read a few reviews before I write my own and noted the latest reviewer said exactly what I was thinking. Really poor condition of the property. Stained carpets, stained bathtub, dented refrigerator, scuffs and scratches throughout. Not up to standard.

I too asked for a late checkout as I am a Marriott Gold member, only to be told they couldn’t do it as they were soooooo busy the next day. Did a quick search only to find there are plenty of rooms available, which leads me to think they are understaffed. Told the front desk person about my issue and she could have cared less. This complacency and lack of service say everything.

Now I see in the previous reviews that Erica (the GM) said that previous reviews would be a learning experiences for future guests and they would improve. Clearly that is not the case as the exact thing happened to me. Giving a trite response about fixing things you never plan to improve does nothing. Plenty of other options in this area, you have been warned. Look elsewhere.

Hello Natedawg4040, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at the Residence Inn Phoenix Mesa with us. I am sorry to hear you had a less than satisfactory stay with us. I would like to address some of the issues you had expressed in your review. Your feedback does helps identify areas of opportunity for us to improve the guest experience, so in regards to the "really poor condition of the property," I am happy to share we recently are under new ownership and management and to let you know they have plans for upgrades for our hotel in the near future. If you would like to contact me and let me know what room number you stayed in I can address these issues in that room. As for the late check out I will have to address that with my front desk to see what happened there, because reviews are a great tool and learning experiences to help us coach our staff on how to handle our future guests and improve any problem areas, which I did tell a previous guest (2 weeks ago) in a previous review. Which I did address with our staff at that time. We do have a very new staff that is still going through training and learning the Marriott standards and hope you understand that they are still in the learning stage of how our hotel team is committed to delivering an exceptional experience and are always brainstorming creative ways to exceed the expectations of our guests, such as yourself, so I want to thank you for your patience in this matter. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you but hope that we can elevate your experience whenever your travels bring you back to Mesa if you allow us another chance. At your convenience, feel free to share any additional feedback. Thank you again for taking the time to give us a review that we will address here at the hotel. Sincerely, Erica Mendivil Assistant General Manager Lorena Martinez erica.mendivil@marriott.com 480-610-0100

She is extremely helpful with everything, she deserve all the praise for her incredible work. Every time I stop by the desk with a question she always has a smile on her face and is eager to help. Please don’t let her go unrecognized, 10/10 highly rate her and the hotel and our stay so far!

We stayed here for 4 nights while seeing family in Tempe. This is an older property but our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. The back of the property is right on/adjacent to another hotel that is not as nice and 'kinda rowdy (I am being politically correct!!). I would recommend staying in odd numbered rooms ending in "23" to "41" for east facing and a quiet parking lot view or odd numbered rooms ending in "01" to 21" for a view looking out over the front of the hotel.

We have family in Mesa that I wanted to be close to as possible while in town. This new Residence Inn was the perfect location. The hotel was very clean and all the hotel staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast was great. The outside patio with the firepit was nice. We reserved bedroom suite which had everything we needed, and was very nice. This is not a criticism of the hotel, but I wish the bathroom had a second entrance from the living area of the room. Everything was perfect.

We spent 7 days here in the middle of April. Hotel is in a good location as you have easy access to highway 60 and 101. Rooms were a good size and clean and we had everything we needed. It was nice to have a full size fridge and Microwave. There was also a hot plate and a dishwasher. Beds and couch were comfortable. Two tv's - main room and bedroom. Pool is nice with towels available. Breakfast was good although repetitive. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again.
