We booked through Agoda - sadly you do not get the VAT refunded so be aware of that when booking if you are a foreign resident.
The hotel was perfect - we arrived early in the morning at 10am and they made a room available for us. The room was a good size and the shower / WiFi were excellent.
The staff were all very helpful and made calls to local agencies we had made reservations with to confirm them for us.
The breakfast provided a good choice.
It is a short walk to the restaurants and shops - so well located.

We stayed at the Hotel Mirador del Lago in November 2019. The room was quite large and well appointed. The hotel is fairly standard, seemingly equipped for large tour groups, but had everything you needed. It is also in a good location, approximately a 10 minute walk from most restaurants and shops. The breakfast offered a wide variety of hot and cold items. We would definately consider staying here again in the future.

This hotel is well located walking distance from the centre of El Calafate, with a wide range of good restaurants nearby (although the restaurant at the hotel is also very acceptable). The rooms are somewhat dated, as suggested by other reviews, but they are not bad and are kept clean. We had a lovely view over the lake. My biggest negative would be that there was no temperature control within the room, so the room was a bit to warm at times during our summer stay.

I was worried before getting to Calafate the level of hotel we would be staying at, but upon arrival was pleasantly surprised by how cute, quaint, cabin woodsy feeling, and clean the property was. Several dogs greeted us and were roaming around the property and we later found all around town. We were also immediately greeted by staff, welcomed, and our bags were taken from us to check in. We found service to be excellent, almost comparable to most 5 star hotels we stay in. To my disappointment and with how many visitors they have, the majority of them do not speak English, so that was a little tricky to navigate. The lake is also not within walking distance as some of the pictures suggest, although it was just a 10 minute short, safe walk to town, the restaurants, shops, and even a casino. The room we booked had 3 beds and more than enough sleeping accommodations for 4 of us. The room even in the winter is extremely warm and no options for being cooler unless you open the window which has no screen. BEWARE: they charge for anything you touch in the fridge $800 pesos for water. Breakfast is included, but we found it to be mostly carbs, bread, pastries, fruits, more of a continental breakfast and if you wanted an espresso you could get it just outside the breakfast area for an additional charge to your room. All in all, this was the perfect spot to stay to tour the sites, our tour bus picked us up last and dropped us off first, so like other viewers have said, the location is excellent, perfect for our short stay to see Perito Moreno.

I didnā€™t stay at this hotel as my wife got very sick and I needed to cancel the booking on the day of our arrival.
Even though there could have been a cancelation cost - they didnā€™t charge me anything and sent a message saying all was ok with the booking and they said they were sorry to hear of my wifeā€™s illness.
We really appreciated this and will definitely book this hotel again if we return to El Calafate.

We booked a two-nights' stay at this hotel for April but had to cancel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reservation clearly said that it was completely refundable for up to five days before the trip, but they charged me a deposit and are now refusing to refund it! They are trying to give me a voucher that will be valid for a year, but I have no idea if I will be able to make this trip in a year or not. I will never stay in this hotel and will not recommend it to anyone.

I have not stayed at this hotel so I can't comment on the room, views or even the hotel service, HOWEVER I can comment on the horrible customer service of their reservation department. With the Coronavirus declared a "pandemic" by the WHO and the Argentinian government requiring a quarantine for travelers arriving from USA, I had to cancel my entire trip to Paraguay and Argentina. This was a business trip at the end of this month but I was taking a few days to enjoy myself in El Calafate. My stay was supposed to be March 26-29. Today I've tried to cancel the reservation and they have refused to give me my deposit back claiming that the situation is very new and to give them 2 more weeks to decide on what to do. They want to keep my money as a credit for the future (but to be used within a year) when I will have to re-book at whatever rate is available. Personally I find this to be very dishonest, the hotel's cancellation policy is 5 days to cancel for free, I'm cancelling 14 days in advance. If I had to cancel for any other reason, they would refund my credit card, correct? They refuse to understand that we don't know when this issue with the coronavirus will be over, I don't even know if I will be able to go to Argentina in the next year, so what? Do I lose 235 dollars? I don't think so. I have disputed the transaction with Amex as I have every right to get my money back. And please don't get me wrong, I work in the hospitality industry and understand what is happening with the entire tourism industry but this company is acting in a very dishonest way.

I will certainly not stay with them if I get to go to El Calafate in the future, I can't trust a company that does not honor their own policies, even at times such as what we are living now.

We spent two nights here and found it was convenient despite being on the edge of town. There are several restaurants near by and tours pick you up at the hotel.
Our room was comfortable - good firm bed.The room was a little noisy - you hear conversation and TV from adjoining rooms. Wifi fine.
Breakfast was OK but opened later that 6am on our last day when we had to leave early. The waitress could have let us in while she was setting up. Boxed lunches can be orders.
Front desk helpful checking on reservations etc.

The room was a good size, but the unseasonal warm weather and no A/C made it a little uncomfortable at times (probable wouldn't matter most of the time). The bathroom was an ok size, but not not too much extra (eg a small packet of 2 tissues). Disappointingly the water in the room wasn't free and charged out at ARP500 a bottle. The highlight was the restaurant and the food there was fantastic, beautifully presented and very tasty. They served meals that would have been acceptable in a good quality main city restaurant.

The hotel is on the main street in El Calafate, with views over the lake. There are good restaurants close to the hotel (we really liked Pura Vida), and the main shopping area and other restaurants are around 10 minutes walk. Our room was large, very comfortable, and with a well-designed bathroom. The hotel also has some good spacious lounge areas. We didnā€™t have dinner in the hotel, but breakfasts were excellent. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We thought this was a great place to stay while visiting the Perito Moreno Glacier (highly recommended) about an hour and a half drive away.
