I really had mixed feelings about this place but in the end you can escape the character. Banos was one of the hardest hotel reservations for me to make for my trip to Ecuador. One nothing is outstand clean new and modern, and the two lead hotels bash each other in their reviews and its obvious. However I decides on Samari because of the people, they were all very nice. Their staff was there for you. Example our friend call the office about laundry service because he didnt bring enough shorts for all the water activities and they said they did not do it on sight, which to me means they don't do it. Well when we got back that day from touring all his clothes had been washed and folded. Not sure how they knew which were his versus ours but anyway. They great you with a nice native beverage and were serious about their Covid protocols, their wait staff were very accommodating and even when I needed to add an extra day to our room they just used the same rate I paid instead of a higher rack rate. Over all the place is old and historical and I think Covid has hit them hard but they still made you feel at home. The Spa services were very good as well, as was a bit taken back by all the kids in the locker room, but the pool entrance is through the locker room, so just kind of making do with what you have I guess.

I think this has to be one of the best properties in Banos - very nice old school vibe to it with an amazing layout and nice royal feel. The age of the property shows, but that’s the beauty of it. Rooms are nice and spacious. Spa is absolutely amazing (thank you Anita!). But it still feels like it lacks that special service touch. Because of the pandemic, the hotel was empty, we were the only guests for 3 of the 4 nights that we were here. We booked 2 rooms, but one of the rooms had an awesome mold smell. We asked if we could switch rooms, and we were simply given the runaround with false promises. Housekeeping came and simply sprayed the room with chemicals, which made it even worse. Wifi is atrocious! On a separate note, we requested gluten free bread for breakfast every day the night before, and eventually they made it available on the last day, even though they promised to do so every day. Small things like these made the stay a little frustrating. That said, it is an amazing property and it was sad to see the place empty due to the pandemic. Please visit, and please tip generously! So many families have been severely impacted and face hardships, it’s the least we can do to help.

Dear guests, Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent experience at Samari Spa Resort. I'm sincerely sorry to hear that all your expectations weren't totally fulfilled. Actually the hotel is an ancient colonial-type and style, and we make sure on a daily basis that it remains clean, shinny, warm and welcoming for our lovely guests. Regarding the elements you mentionned that did not work, normally these kind of issues are taking care of promptly by our maintenance staff, but I'll investigate to make sure you haven't been left without attention. Likewise for tje restaurant requests you had and that were not fulfilled. We really look forward to welcoming you again to fulfill all your expectations this time. I remain in the meantime at your entire disposal for any further questions/needs you might have. Sincerely, Dorian ROQUE Director of Marketing & Communication of the Samari Spa Resort

The location and architecture of this hotel are breathtaking. You just cannot beat the view, and the pool/spa area is spacious an well-appointed. THINGS WE LOVED -The spa service. Katy from the spa is a gem. She was friendly and professional, and ensured that we had a relaxing, top-notch spa treatment. -Javier from the front desk. There was an important game on our first evening, and the only way to watch was online. Alas, the Internet connection was poor, so we were unable to access the game from our room. Javier went above and beyond by getting us set up in the karaoke bar, where they had a computer hooked up to the TV. We were able to watch the game and were profoundly appreciative of the amazing service. -The room was beautiful and comfy, not to mention quiet. THINGS THAT NEED IMPROVEMENT -The internet connection is poor and intermittent, which seems odd at a high-end property. -Biosafety: The two ladies that work the daytime front desk shift either do not wear masks, or they wear a flimsy, see-through plastic mouth shield that literally does absolutely nothing to protect from the virus. This seems odd, given that the rest of the staff (E.g. the servers) wear the appropriate KN95 masks and often a face shield on top of that. It is particularly worrying, since reception has contact with every single guest. -Food: The food can only be described as meh. I was expecting something tasty at such a nice property, but was disappointed. The last morning we were served some very questionable-looking cold cuts and cheese that seemed to have been defrosted. The bread was stale, and everyone had to eat the same thing for dinner, even though we had been told that we would be able to order a la carte. We would have been ok with that had the food been up to scratch, but it was barely average. -Cocktails: Expensive and leave much to be desired. A good mixologist is needed.

Dear guests, On behalf of the Samari Spa Resort team, we wish you and yours the very best for this new year and we thank you for your time to write a constructive review regarding your recent stay at our luxury Hotel, Spa & Resort. Regarding your comments about the Biosafety measures you experiencied with our staff at front desk, we actually have this kind of protective masks that are safe as well despite they may appear unsafe for their shape. They are totally approved by the Sanitary Autorities of the OMS and are recent, that's why you may have been a little bit surprised to see this new look. As for your comment about the internet connection, we have a high-speed connection due to the wide space of the property, and it's always working fine but it's possible to have a little bit of interference due to the satellite sometimes. Anyway, we will carefully review all our inernet network so everyting will be working perfectly next time you visit us. Finally, regarding the food choices and quality you mentionned at our gourmet restaurant, we are very careful with the freshness and quality of all the foods and ingredients, and we have an experienced Peruvian Chef that cook and prepare everything fresh on a daily basis in order to serve you the best dishes with the best savor possible. Thank you for your comment, we'll investigate what went wrong with your personnal experience at the restaurant this day. Having said that, we sincerely apologize for the little inconveniences you had, and we'll be very happy to welcome you again to assist you personally throughout your stay so it is an excellent one next time. We look forward to welcoming you again at Samari Spa Resort in a near future. Sincerely, Dorian ROQUE Director of Marketing & Communication

The place is beautiful and the rooms are very nice but the service is not always kind. The person who greeted us and who recommended activities was very kind. She greeted us after every activity and was graceful. They gave us drinks (juice) on our arrival always. On the other hand, some of the staff and some policies were not. We asked for extra towels on our first night and the person in the reception emphatically said only one towel per day! He said we will get another towel tomorrow! When we were leaving to a recommended activity they said we should not take hotel towels and that they would give us other towels. Nonetheless, they were taking very long in the morning and while we were already in the bus, they said we should take the hotel towels from the rooms because they were not ready. We asked to use the pool and spa and reserved it for our group of 10. Because of Covid, they had a policy or 10 people at the same time. And when we got there, there were other people. The person from the spa was unkind and impatient with me when I mentioned we had reserved the place for 10 people and that there were others there. She said there is room for everyone! In the restaurant the food is well presented, but not very tasty and very little portions. The service is also not up to par with the price and the beautiful place. They should really improve the service so that tourists feel like they want to come back.

Dear guests, we hope you are doing great. On behalf of the Samari Spa Resort team, I thank you for your time to write a constructive review regarding your recent stay at our luxury Hotel, Spa & Resort. Regarding your comment about the services you received from our staff during your stay, there must have been a misunderstanding especially regarding your extra towels request because we're always very happy to fulfill this kind of requirement. Anyway, we made sure there will not have further misunderstanding with you staff from front desk as sometimes, speaking in English could be a little bit confusing for recent trainees, despite all the training we provided them with. Likewise, we carried out an investigation with the person from the Spa who attended you the way you mentioned, to make sure this won't happen again. Last, but not least, regarding your comment about the lack of flavor and the size of the portions served in our gourmet restaurant, we always ensure the best quality and quantity for you guests so they can have great experiences from their stay. Maybe you were expecting more? Please feel free to let us know so we can custom and best fulfill your expectations next time, everyone's different, so the tastes and expectations. Having said that, we sincerely apologize for the little inconveniences you had, and we'll be very happy to welcome you again to assist you personally throughout your stay so it is an excellent one next time. We look forward to welcoming you again at Samari Spa Resort in a near future. Sincerely, Dorian ROQUE Guest Relations Manager

This was our honeymoon hotel where we spent two nights and three days. We ordered mint tea but service was poor. Unfortunately, bed sheets were not changed after the first night. Dinner was delicious but a bit too late. Chimney was lit but blankets were not offered to keep us warm.
