Booked via booking.com, arrived at the hotel and they tried to charge us the commission that they have to pay booking.com on top of the agreed price! Looking at previous reviews it looks like this is a regular occurence (appears they also try to say its tax which non-ecuadorians don't have to pay). We refused and they charged our credit card anyway. Booking.com have been unhelpful even though the hotel have admitted what they do in messages, Having to go via my credit card to get a refund.

It is normal today to have travelers who want to get free things, with rude, explosive, insulting and humiliating attitude for a staff that is behind a counter and this was the case. You make a reservation with booking.com not with the hostel, and accept the conditions as policies of that reservation, it is a contract. They arrive at the hostel claiming that they do not pay taxes as foreigners. If the reservation was direct with the hostel we can deduct that tax, but the reservation is with booking.com, the 12% is not the tax that you pay to the country, it is the commission that they charge for you, as well as the hostel they use these portals. The reception staff explains several times about the 12% that is found in the booking portal, it is not a tax, it is the booking commission for making a reservation, that message arrives in your email, like all travelers who do reservations with them. But you did not want to understand that you simply wanted a discount and automatically obtain a free benefit. As we did not do what you want in an imposing way, you withdraw from the hostel, and cancel your reservation. The policies are clear last minute cancellations will be charged 100% of the reservation, and your card will be charged the %80 logical booking.com withdraw your profit commission. We suggest the next time you should read the booking conditions and their policies, remember they are not the policies of the hostel. Every hotel business after a 2-year pandemic of not working and producing 0%, having spent a month without production, cannot afford to lose and simply because a traveler accustomed to always getting free things, caused the damage to the work of a staff that works to give its best service every day. Reflect your comment a little more and do not accuse a business that simply complies with what was agreed with a company that requests our service and not the traveler.

This is my third time staying at this property in 2021. I stayed for a week in February, then brought my husband back for a month in March and now I am back for a month in September. Each time I return I see very nice improvements. The hosts and workers are spectacular and very responsive and respectful. I have received GREAT advice about what to do and where to do it. I feel like I am coming home each time I return. If you cannot be happy here, you cannot be happy anywhere. The owner and workers are lifelong residents, the info and help they provide is invaluable.

I liked that it was a bit on the outskirts of the city, more quite and near the beautiful lush mountains. Also the breakfast was amazing, especially their homemade raspberry jam. (I wish I still had some) Coffee was also very good. I am also very grateful that she helped me with my laundry concerns because I am allergic to the very flowery perfumed detergent. Cute puppies too :)

I feel so content to have found such a lovely, clean and affordable hostel! The attention and care I received from the staff was equal to the those in a 5-star hotel! The owner and her team gave excellent recommendations about how to spend my short stay in Baños in the best possible way! The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast diverse and delicious, the cleanliness - spotless! The only drawback may be the fact that the location is kind of away from the center and to get to it there is a moderate hill to climb, but that's all! It is so worth it! It's quiet and close to a beautiful hiking trail and the bus stop for Casa del Arbol. Not to mention that there is a special massage room and you can get a reasonably-priced full body treatment after being involved with various extreme sports! I got a very skilful woman named Mari who worked on every sore muscle I had! My body and soul are infinitely grateful for choosing La Casa Del Molino Blanco as a place to stay in Baños! I highly recommend it to everyone - solo travellers, couples and groups of friends!

We spent 5 nights at Casa del Molino Blanco and had a really good time. The hostel is about 10 mn walk from the city center in a quiet neighborhood, on the path to the Mirador de la Virgen. Very good breakfast (fresh juice, coffee/tea as often as you like, bread ham cheese and jam and a day's special - eggs, pancakes, cereals or fruits). Very nice staff (thank you Marco for your kindness), very helpful with activities and tips on the area, our kids loved playing with the little owners dog and enjoyed the hammocks in the frontyard. Kitchen very well equiped, laundry service available (1.5$/kg), very clean place, bathrooms and rooms are cleaned every day, towels, bed sheets, hot water and shampoo available; very good mattresses, lockers in rooms. We felt so good there that we stayed two more nights. If you are looking for a home away from home then go to la Casa del Molino Blanco!

I stayed in La Casa de Molina Blanco for nearly a week, in one of the dorm rooms. I have to say it was the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in. One of the things I dread about travelling and staying in hostels is having to share bathrooms, particularly if they aren't kept very clean, however there seemed to be a magic fairy here that was constantly ensuring the bathrooms were kept clean, there was also consistent hot water, which isn't always a given in South America. The beds were comfortable and very well designed with your own individual night light, power point and USB charging point. Elba (I think I remembered it right), the manager was very nice and helpful. She spoke very good English but was also patient with me trying to practice my broken Spanish. They can also help organise tours and activities in the area for you. The hostel is just a 10 minute walk to the central bus station, so it was close enough to be within walking distance to everything for me but also far enough away so you weren't disturbed at night by busy city centre. The breakfasts were good and varied, and the hostel uses green renewable energy, which is a big plus for me being an environmentalist. The only downside I can think of for this hostel is, it raised the standards so now I will probably be disappointed in any other hostel I stay in, I've already stayed in 2 more hostels in Peru which sadly were no comparison. I gave it 10 star rating on the site I booked it through. Thoroughly recommend ;)

I highly recommend staying at this hostal. The staff were great and the place is super clean. It was nice having breakfast cooked for each guest every morning and a projector with rows and rows of DVDs to watch after a long day of hiking or biking. Maya the pug and her little pug friend were cute and nice additions to the relaxed atmosphere :)

Very glad I chose to stay here in Baños. I did not want a party hostel, and this place was very chill, quiet, & relaxing. When I was there, the hostel wasn’t super social, mostly couples, but everyone was friendly. There is a SPA at this hostel- my massage was $25 for 60 minutes, and surprisingly good! The beds were clean, and very comfortable, with charging stations and lights at each bedside, as well as lockers. The bathrooms were very clean, and had hot showers with good water pressure (what a luxury in Ecuador!). Breakfast was nice; crepes, bread, some cheese & ham, coffee. WiFi was fast. I found the employees to be kind and helpful, and it was really lovely relaxing in the hammocks in the front garden. The location is a bit out of the center, but only a 10 minute walk from the heart of it all (yes-there is a hill involved, but it isn’t too bad!). As a solo female, this area felt quite safe to me, and a taxis are super cheap if you did not want to walk at night- a worthy trade off to avoid other hostels’ beer pong parties and night club noise!

I don’t know how anyone could rate this place less than excellent...especially considering the awesome staff. Whomever gave negative reviews must be very difficult guests because the staff far exceeded my expectations. *Clean, economical rooms *Beer, bottled drinks, wine, even massages in house that you can purchase onsite *the most helpful staff ever...booked tours for us for way cheaper than we could find on our own, English speaking, and consistently went above and beyond. Helped us avoid missing our flight by explaining the am bus schedule and that we wouldn’t make it to Quito in time. Then she booked a taxi for us (our only option as we had to leave at 3am) and GOT UP AT 3 AM to escort us to the taxi! *very delicious breakfast that changes everyday. You even have the option to add to it for additional cost. Great, friendly cook. *Cheap laundry service! Stay here, you won’t regret it.

I stayed in La Casa del Molino Blanco in November 2014 and was pleased with the accommodations. It is a quaint bed and breakfast that was well-maintained and had attentive staff. I appreciated that they arranged for laundry services and had other amenities to make for an enjoyable stay, like the spa and a media room. The staff was also helpful in arranging excursions (like horseback riding and zip lining) in the area. My review is based off of my stay in 2014 but I would certainly return and would recommend it to others looking to travel on a budget to Baños.
