This is "thee " place to stay in the area. Wi-fi at the office, no phone, tv, etc. Cabins equipped with stove, frig, micro as there is no where else you can count on so bring your food! Hike the area or sit around the office watching wildlife & birds. A lovely respite.

A birding trip report which we used to plan our itinerary raved about this place so we selected it for our stay in the Chiricahuas. The Ranch is located in a very beautiful area Laura was friendly and helpful on our arrival. We stayed in Woodland Cottage which was spacious and well appointed inside as well as private. Also very...

This was my fifth visit here and I was by myself this trip and only for a couple of days and it was as great as always. The wildlife is everywhere and it was very peaceful, cool and I hardly saw a soul. It's amazing how quiet it is but then again the second night a huge thunderstorm came through...

We decided to stay here based on the reviews and one needs reservation for ideal times well in advance. Was wishing food was available but it was easy to get nearby at the Portal Cafe and we did have some with us to use in the Woodland cabin. Since we had a short time and enjoy birds but not a...

You don't go for the rooms although they are adequate. There is wifi if you hike over to the office and sit on their patio bench. But you go to see a bazillion birds and ones you can't find in other places. They had blue-throated hummingbirds and Scott's orioles, but the Elegant Trogon hadn't arrived yet when we visited the...

The lodge and property are well set up for birders with numerous feeders, water drips and wide variety of planting seeds/native habitat. Cabins are spacious with adequate bath and kitchen facilities. Gas fireplace is nice on cold spring evenings. My one complaint is that Wifi is limited to porch and office. Since there is no cell reception within forty miles,...

We rented the Stone Cottage at Cave Creek, and found it perfect for 4 unrelated birders. The kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfortable and we were surrounded by wild life- many species of birds and plants, javelinas, Coues White tail Deer, Mule Deer, Cottontails, various rodents and lizards. We missed seeing a resident bobcat. We attended a St. patrick's...

During our visit to Portal, AZ, we rented a cabin next to Cave Creek at Cave Creek Ranch. The accommodations were very good and simple. The owner has done a nice job keeping the cabins in good condition. Cave Creek Ranch is a great place to observe many of the more common birds in the area and occasionally some of...

Cave Creek Canyon is an incredibly beautiful location, in remote SE Arizona. The Cave Creek Ranch offers comfortable, cozy lodging at this unique "Sky Island." The staff is amazing, and helped us with choosing hikes and finding birds. The rooms are simple, but sparkling clean. There is free wifi at the office, but no wifi in rooms. Kitchenettes are useful,...

This is my third winter visit to Cave Creek Ranch and it never dfsappoints. Each time has been winter and the combination of pleasantly warm winter days and cold clear nights makes for the best combination of comfort. In winter also the feeders are very busy. This time as we needed three rooms we stayed in the ranch house and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cave Creek Ranch is a peaceful retreat from the modern world. Surrounded by spectacular scenery, the simple rooms and cottages are clean and neat. While there is Wi-Fi on our front porch, the rooms are free of modern noise and distractions -- no cell service, TVs, or radios. We do have a small library in every room, and more books on natural history available to borrow from the office. Guests tell us they haven't slept so well in years; we think it's because they can relax and get away from the news. Cell service is available a mile away in downtown Portal. ... more   less
