As usual you have to distinguish between resort hotels like you'd stay at in Vegas, and regular hotels when you're in a different city for a couple nights.
This hotel is a great example of the latter.
First, if you need to be in this part of Scottsdale, the location is perfect.
Walking distance from all of old town scottsdale, the riverfront shops, fashion square mall, and more great restaurants than you could eat at in a month.
This is an older hotel, but very well maintained.
They are like small junior suites, without a door between bedroom and living-room/dining.
Great use of space though, plenty of room. Actual glass walled stand up showers, without that horrible shower curtain on a tub that so many older places have.
Lastly, this place has really excellent staff and service. Never had anything but perfect experience there.
Excellent, excellent value for the price, given the area.

The stay far exceeded our expectations! Friendly, helpful staff. Clean large room. Comfy bed. Earplugs were available and a sleep/sound machine in room too. Plenty of parking and local golf cart transportation to night life attractions for $5. Also, breakfast food was hot and delicious. The staff member working that area took a lot of pride in what she was serving and was so attentive to guests needs. We had a fantastic stay and experience. Thank you!

Hyatt Old Town Scottsdale review
2/23/24
Hotel has been mostly a disappointment especially because we paid seasonal high rate for poor quality room. The room has full exposure to busy street noise 24 hrs and poor lighting. Hot tube, next to pool, has been out of order frequently during our 5 night stay. Front desk staff have been uniformly helpful and free-with-room breakfast offerings similar to our experiences elsewhere.

If you're looking for a 2 star hotel, lots of night life and don't mind loud music and people yelling outside the hotel until the wee hours in the morning, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for a quality stay and a good night's sleep, look elsewhere. This hotel is in dire need of renovations and is extremely noisy. We initially were given a "club room" (didn't know this until we asked to be moved). The "club room" included ear plugs and a sound machine. Are you following? This should have been discussed up front, so that we could decide to stay or go. After two nights in the "club room", we asked to be moved to a quieter area. We were moved from the 5th to 6th floor, this time without any assisted noise cancellation. We still heard loud music and people yelling outside all night. Some of this may have been bearable, except that the mattresses were hard, the carpets stained, and the fixtures outdated. For the money, I'd of preferred a hotel in another part of town, that was better quality and without the noise. The pillows were soft, though...

The Hyatt was very clean, centrally located in Downtown, and the staff we talked with were very friendly and very accommodating. We went for New Year's eve and the Christmas decorations were still up which made it so pretty inside. This is located within 10 minutes of walking to the districts. We walked the whole time we were here to the entertainment district, the waterfront, and the shopping district.

Only a few blocks from Old Scottsdale, great morning breakfast, free parking, did not use room service for cleaning but they gave us extra coffee. Easy walking to nightlife and shops. Love the extra room for lounging and refrigerator

Carpet was filthy. Bathroom floor had dirty build up of black grime in both corners adjacent to tub (covid extra cleaning?) We flew in to town for a family funeral. The included buffet breakfast was cancelled (covid) in lieu of frozen spicy-only microwave burrito and juice. Masks were worn dependent on a guest's whim to cooperate. Housekeeping was at request only with covid in mind so we roughed it 5 nights, as we all were unable to vacate on demand for the required 2 hour prior room ventilation. A second bottle of shampoo was obtained however. No restaurant on grounds. Overall, very distracting from our primary reason to be there.

The location of this hotel is great for Old Town Scottsdale but other than that it's just average. First the room was a good size but it had a lot of unused/wasted space. The bathroom just had a shoer and a toilet but in order to close the door to the bathroom you had to step into the shower or behind the toilet, however, there was clearly room for them to have made it bigger in the first place. Next was the AC. It's crammed in right next to the bed so all night you go from hot when it's off to freezing cold when it's on and blowing right over you. In addition, in our room, every time the AC turned on it smelled like mold. The breakfast bar was also not great. I get that it's COVID and every thing is weird right now but the lack of fresh fruit, protein and other options was disappointing, especially for a Hyatt. We were also not told at check in that we had to request room service. I certainly don't need to have fresh towels and sheets daily but I wish this would have been communicated. ore so just to have the trash emptied since we frequently had food up in the room since there are not a ton of places to sit in the lobby because of COVID. The pool is on the small side but there is plenty of room to find a spot to sit and a large covered area for shade. The staff was all very nice and there is a lot of sanitizer available and masks are required on property right now during COVID which was also nice.
Overall, the location and staff was great but really was not impressed with the rooms or breakfast bar and will probably find a different stay for our next visit.

unless you want to party at the nightclub which the hotel shares a lot with, I'd avoid this hotel. they ignored 3 requests to have room cleaned in the morning (over a 4 night stay) and they also ignored requests to have the squealing air conditioner repaired so I could get to sleep. worst part was the excessive noise from the night club from midnight - 3am each evening. avoid this place.

In the heart of Old Town. Right near the Scottsdale Performing Arts Center and tons of restaurants. There is a microwave in lobby but I don’t remember one in the room. Nice property.
It is an Arizona State law that all smoking must be at least 20 feet from the hotels entrance. We have a couple areas set up for smoking with a bench and proper disposal area. Hope this helps!
Our location is ideal for all types of travelers. We are kid friendly. And close to several locations that kids will enjoy: The train park at McCormack, Phoenix Zoo, Butterfly Museum, Odysea, etc.
