We booked this room just an hour before we arrived. We checked in at 2pm and the room was ready..that may just be pure luck that a room was free..but it’s rare for that to happen. Front staff desk were excellent. As I was checking in, an older woman came in asking for a 1st room floor. They checked for her and during that time another staff offered to carry her bags up to the 2nd floor (there is no elevator). I thought it was incredible that a staff offered without being asked! The location is in the heart of the little downtown so you can go out for a bite to eat or a drink and leave your car. The rooms are very nice..bordering on luxury. And the view! Get a balcony room! Yes, there is a bit of street noise during the day but you won’t get this view for this price! At night there is no noise in the room. The pool was a bit chilly but felt nice after a hot day. I don’t think you can go wrong here!

This hotel is a gem hidden in plane sight. The hotel staff was absolutely incredible, professional, kind and so helpful anytime I had a question or needed assistance. A more perfect hotel doesn’t exist for those travelers looking to be as close as possible to the shops and restaurants. This hotel has recently underwent an incredible well executed renovation, the quality of my room was equal to if not greater than many 4 star accommodations I’ve had. I personally feel the hotel has undersold itself tremendously with the pictures they’ve posted online highlighting the rooms. The amazing view looking out from my room on the enormous balcony was worth the cost of booking alone. Close (6 miles) to Slide Rock State Park as well as several other hiking trails. I will absolutely stay here again so long as all of these positive reviews don’t cause the nightly rate to sky rocket.

Our room was quiet. The updated shower with rain head was beautiful but did leak out onto the bathroom floor. The view of the red rocks from the second story was great! We liked the ability to walk to shops and eating places (lots of road traffic). Only complaint: the office is SUPPOSED to be open from 7am to evening. Both mornings we were there, it didn't open until about 8:30am and had already closed before 5pm on one day. If you want more coffee for your room, get it WHENEVER you see a person in the office or you will have to wait till they drag themselves in to work in the morning. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and it was one of the more reasonably priced rooms for being in town in May at about $200 per night (pricy town for sure).

After paying over $500/night to stay in the Chalet, at the bare minimum I expected it to be cleaned before my arrival. We checked in after 3 PM and the management let us know our room was available and gave us a key, yet when we came inside the chalet had not yet been cleaned since the last visit. We found dirty sheets on the kitchen counter with mysterious brown stains, dirty sheets and bath towels on all the beds, and leftover food and drink from the last visitors. There was even left over toilet paper in the toilets! This would be disgusting at any time, but is simply disturbing given the rapid spread of COVID-19. When we called the front desk to inform them that our room was a mess, they assured us that the room had been cleaned but they would send over a cleaning crew anyway. To our surprise, when the cleaning crew arrived, they informed us that none of the had been into work for the past few days, and no one had stepped foot into the chalet to clean. They told us it would only take 30 minutes to clean a 2 story house with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, and game room. That night the five of us spent well over 30 minutes sterilizing the house so we would have peace of mind.
When we called and asked for some compensation, management refused to take our calls for three whole days. When we finally got a hold of the manager, Tyler, he said they had done enough by giving us a complimentary bottle of wine for our trouble. Unfortunately, a bottle of wine is not compensation for blatant negligence during a global pandemic. For days I had been trying to get a hold of Tyler, and when i finally did, he apologized for not getting back to me sooner, but he was busy cleaning up rooms at the hotel because again the cleaning staff was not there. During this last phone call, Tyler simply hung up us. Such negligence puts lives at risk and trying to dodge our phone calls makes it even more reprehensible.

I stayed at the Matternhorn Inn for 5 nights last week. I booked this hotel based on its good online reviews and location. It was not a pleasant stay. The only good thing about this hotel is its location, it is walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in Uptown Sedona and all rooms have nice views of the red rocks. The building has two stories (no elevator) and very few amenities (small swimming pool, Jacuzzi). We had a double queen room on the second flood. The first thing we noticed as we entered the room was the noise from the bathroom fan. As it turned out, the fan cannot be turned off and since the bathroom door is barn type, the noise was nonstop during our whole stay. When we complained to the front desk staff, she told us that that was the way it was.
The hotel housekeeping during our entire stay was a nightmare. We found out the first day that they only clean the rooms every other day. I don’t think it is acceptable to use COVID as an excuse not to provide an expected service. In any case, not even fresh towels were left in the room and we personally had to go downstairs to the lobby basically every night to get the essentials (the first night we almost did not get them because the “dryer was broken”). The second night we returned to the room and the room was exactly as we had left it that morning. Again I went downstairs and the excuse they gave me for not servicing the room was that the cleaning lady was not feeling well and had to leave early. After I complained about the service we had fresh towels in the room when we returned from dinner, but no one cleaned the room. On our fourth night, we returned to changed bed linens but everything else was filthy. The bathroom was not cleaned, the room not vacuumed. In summary, we really did not have the room cleaned in the 5 days we were there. Every time we went downstairs to speak to the management at hand there was an excuse. This is not the way to run a business. What we were asking was a minimum standard of service, especially when the price tag for the hotel room was $323 per night including taxes. So if you visit the wonderful town of Sedona, look for better accommodations elsewhere.

I had really low expectations of what I expected to be a generic roadside motel in Arizona. Instead, I found a wonderful oasis! The room was spacious and recently remodeled and the shower was fantastic after a hot day. My husband loved the pillows so much that he took a photo of the tag and then ordered some from the company when we got home. Best of all, the staff was warm, friendly, and helpful beyond measure. The lobby has a filtered water machine for your water bottle, free snacks, and what is probably some of the most affordable bottled water in town. Parking can be tight but we found that something always opened up if we kept an eye on it. The location is perfect for anything in Uptown Sedona and we barely used our car while we were there.

This place doesn't look bad from the outside because it was recently renovated...that's where it ends though; it was all downhill after that.
The place seemed deserted but the desk clerk claimed they were almost sold out...funny, standard canned reply.
The one staff guy looked about 19 and mean't well but wearing a t-shirt and not even knowing what Matterhorn means is not presenting a professional image. I've met more knowledgeable and professional staff at hostels in Europe for 25 euros a night.
I asked to see a room and while the king bed was nice, the decor is extremely tacky and cartoonish. The view is blocked by the main Street tourist shops and after all the renovation the guy was touting there was not even a bathtub in the room.
He quoted a price of about $200 including tax on a very slow Wednesday night with NO BREAKFAST!
He claimed he didn't know who owned the hotel but the owner was somewhere in Phoenix.
I left and told him I'd think about it. He replied that the office closes at 10pm(very unprofessional for the prices charged).
Note to owners: If you can't take pride in your business like a professional signs his/her name to their work what is your real intent? I think it is to do wrong and cheat people. A real professional business owner doesn't hide identity. This is a disturbing trend with hotel ownership resulting in massive price fixing/overcharging guests and refusing to correct issues and provide value to customers(like charging top hotel rates for motel quality and staff that wouldn't get hired at Burger King).
Since I'm not a chump, I said a nice goodbye and looked elsewhere-$200 saved for nice restaurants and tours.
Not recommended.

Imagine staying in a room with a view of Sedona's red rocks, with upscale decor and amenities. Now imagine getting that and paying half what much-less exciting properties, in less convenient locations offer. That's the Matterhorn.
Recently renovated, with a staff that cares (everyone I interacted with was pleasant and helpful), with a vibe unmatched by the more corporate offerings in Sedona (an old motor lodge, think Rt. 66 back when it was thriving), and clean, freshly updated rooms. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase in the lobby, with a really nice pool and hot tub on offer as well.
Parking was available for free and the location was walkable to everything in Uptown Sedona. If you tend to gravitate towards boutique hotels or unique stays, this is the place for you.
I'd stay here whenever I'm back in Sedona, and I hope you do too as this place was great and the owners/staff deserve success.

Stayed at The Matterhorn for 2 nights with my partner this holiday season. The inn has been fully converted and renovated. The rooms have a wonderful view of the red rocks from each individual balcony.
Inside the room is spacious with a bathrooms separate from the main room. The matching set of furniture from the wall entertainment nook to the bed frame to the sliding doors and bathroom vanity was a great choice from management and their designers. The room is clean and modern. Attention to detail from the wall paint to bathroom tiles to choice of grout color.
Was really surprised I have found this perfect little gem of an inn for the price we paid.

We were driving cross-country and Sedona was one of our stops. We saw that Matterhorn Inn had great reviews, was pet friends, and had just renovated all of their rooms. So, we booked for one night and arrived in late June. It was a great stay! All of the rooms have mountain views. It's only a two floor hotel and there is guest parking right outside of the rooms. They did a great job with the renovations - nice bathrooms, great king sized bed, huge TV, and the outdoor patios were spacious. The location was right where all the restaurants and shops are located, so if you are looking to do that, I would highly recommend this place.
