The hotel staff were friendly & accomodating during our stay. The hotel is within walking distance to everything you need, but the shower and room were tiny for the price. Basic lodging but worked well for our needs, would definitely stay again!

Gloria, the day trip would be do-able. The Tonto National Forest is a large area. I would visit their website for information and to plan what part or parts you wanted to check out. Hope that helped.
