When Marriott launched the Moxy brand, they chose Tempe Arizona to pop the cherry. Now we're the best hotel near ASU if you're pining to cheer on the Sun Devils, grab drinks on Mill Ave, or spend late nights in Phoenix without the stuffiness of normal hotels. We are 10 minutes away from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. If you're coming to Phoenix to see your team play at the Fiesta Bowl, come celebrate and stay with us! Start with a free drink at check-in, free WiFi, a 49" Netflix TV and, if you're lucky, a pool view. Our outdoor pool and daily events will draw you out of your room and right back into the lobby. When it does, drop by the 24/7 Moxy Counter for coffee, cocktails, and good company. Don't forget to take a ride around Tempe in one of our house bikes.

When I booked, Hotwire said "similar to Crown Plaza or Embassy Suites" - not eve close. No mention of a parking fee; perhaps buried in FAQ's. Should have been part of total reservation fee. Oh but I could have parked a mile away on some street. Lobby -check in- is the bar. Bartender/ Desk Clerk tattoos from forehead, arms, everywhere visible. This is a Marriot? Drunk screaming the hall at 3 am. I had to call the desk even though they could hear the noise. Rooms, cheap "quirky" décor. Will never use Hotwire again and am amazed this is a Marriot hotel. They must need franchise fees more than a consistent quality product.

We have stayed at the Moxy before and really enjoyed it. However our most recent experience has been very disappointing. First of all, we were checked into the wrong room which was not able to accommodate our family which the room we had originally booked was. Upon being moved to the room we actually booked, when we opened the sofa bed, the sheets were soiled, and there were all kinds of paraphernalia in the bed including tissues, bobbie pins, hair, lint, and some sort of small container. So disgusting.

Old 80’s style hotel that was “updated” to an urban prison chic prison style. The lobby reeked of marijuana and the clientele included prostitutes, pimps and/or drug dealer types for an “event”. The A/C also couldn’t handle the AZ heat and it was not as cool or quiet as it should have been in there. No covered or secured parking in a filthy lot AND they had the nerve to charge a ridiculous parking fee. The second night did not have the same crowd, but I was unable to get my points back for the first night. Disappointing.

Expected a sparse theme in the rooms similar to an Aloft or Graduate but received a wheelchair accessible room ( which I don’t need) and not sure if that contributes or not but sparse has a new definition in here. It’s dim. The window is too high to get much from it but it also overlooks the parking area and adjacent garage so not much to see. Which is ok. But not having much light is not. One light over the bed and two or three lamps- all very industrial, which can be cool or very- poor. In this case it just looks poor. Gray floors add to the dreariness. I have a desk and a decently comfortable king bed with tiny and short side tables that are useless. The air conditioning also is from a unit in the room so never fully keeps up with the 107 degrees outside right now. The biggest thing is that there is no refrigerator in the room and I have nowhere to place my things.. a small chair and little pegs on the wall = closet or drawer space. Maybe I’m too old to fully appreciate this eclectic atmosphere. I like the design they were going for but I don’t think they quite hit it. Lots of open space and no useful amenities - that’s my take. It’s clean and ok for sleeping but I won’t come back.

Room Tip: Parking seems to be outside only so not covered which really matters here. They charge for it...

Property understaffed and in need of major maintenance. Daily services are not offered with limited room conveniences. Beds and room accommodations limited with power plugs that didn't work and automatic lighting turned off and on through the night by itself. Smoke smell and cover-up sent in the room.
