You get what you pay for! The grounds at The Buttes are so beautiful. The lobby is spectacular and the receptionists were helpful. The valet attendants moved our car and spilled my purse and some other items and were so apologetic… wasn’t even a big deal to me though! We requested an early check in and the room was ready prior to when we asked! We had a preferred room that looked out over the water slide, although it was closed it was still beautiful. The pool was hopping, incredibly busy and it was hard to find some place to place our stuff and a chair to lay on. They don’t really have anyone going around picking up drinks left out and food trays/trash/dirty towels so at the end of the day it looked pretty rough. However the pool area was beautiful with the rocks and waterfalls. The hot tubs are in fun spots! The rooms are alright, outdated and exactly how I remember them 13 years ago. Our shower smelled of sewer when turned on and the drain didn’t function properly so we had a couple inches of water in the shower that stayed for 30 minutes after showering. That was pretty gross. The air kicks on and is nice and cold but when it turns off it is quite the opposite and we were sweating! The room seemed pretty clean. We loved walking over to the top of the rock restaurant. I would recommend making a reservation for a little bit prior to sunset because it’s a great view… and the food was delicious. Overall we had a good rate for the room compared to other nearby resorts that are updated so I think we got what we payed for and we had fun!

Room Tip: During the summer the pool area is VERY busy on the weekends so it’s hard to find a lounge chair....

Sure, you can stay at the Phoenician and spend a hundred dollars more per night plus the parking, plus everything else. Or stay here with one of the best pools and best views around. Yes. it's old and tired. I knew that coming here this week because I often stay here for business. I wanted to come to relax this week. While I was here I climbed the rock. An easy climb for anyone. Hung by the pool. Ate in the bar, good burgers and drinks. Short drives to Scottsdale and the airport. If you come arrange your expectations to accept that this isn't a high end stuffy resort but a very comfortable lived in resort with an amazing pool and laid back people. You'll also save hundreds

I had a great stay at this place many years ago when it was the Wyndham Buttes and thought it would be fun to check it out again after all of these years, under new ownership. Sad to say, it pales in comparison to the property it used to be. The setting still impresses and the pool is as inviting as I remembered it, but the hotel itself just feels a bit sad and run down. The (skimpy) bedding and towels were dingy and mismatched. The mattress and pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. Even with the A/C on, the room felt damp and stuffy. The shutters – already a poor substitute for blackout drapes – let in even more light than they should have because of broken slats. The toiletries were cheap and sparse. Far too much noise from the hallway and adjoining rooms could be heard. The internet was spotty at best. Frankly, if someone suddenly dropped me in that room without my knowing where I was, I could have easily assumed it was some random budget motel. I realize a lot of properties have struggled because of Covid - hopefully as things open up again, revenues will increase and the Buttes will have some money for some much-needed refurbishing. As for now, however, the place feels more than a little tired… just like I do after three not-very-restful nights there.

Verry outdated hotel rooms that were not clean. My room had spiders and flying critters. I upgraded to get a space outside to enjoy mornig coffee and the outdoor furniture was covered in bird feces. I emailed management and nothing was done. Servoice was sub par as I was told about any amentities like restaraunts, and that my room was not going t be cleaned daily. I am not sure what the $15 repsort fee covered.

This place is very tired. Checked in - staff was nice - went to the room. Halls were dingy, room was so dated - we called around and found another property and promptly checked out. Didn’t want to stay the night or swim in the pool 🙁. We’re gold elite Marriott and have stayed at plenty of Marriott properties. This was one of the worst - sad to say.
