We did not stay at Pirate Cove however we went diving with their diving operator last week. The dive gear and boat were both good, the dive sites and visibility were also great. Our dive master Wilson was excellent, very chilled and cheerful but also safe and attentive. Very knowledgable about local marine life. We had lunch at Pirate Cove... More

We stayed here for three nights at the end of out Costa Rica holiday. We loved the trip in by boat from Sierpe along the river and then out on the Pacific Ocean, landing on the beach at Drake Bay. The hotel is isolated but has all the amenities you could really ask for—comfortable rooms, dining area, beach and nature... More

Recently had one of my best vacations ever. The people there were very helpful, Susan especially, answered all of my questions, gave me many good ideas for which tours I might enjoy most. The diving was fantastic, saw lots of white tipped sharks, moray eels, and fish, fish, fish. Had a good time at the national park, also went kayaking.... More

A few years ago I stayed at Pirate Cove and loved it so much that I returned with my partner in February for a 4 night stay. To begin with, you get to waddle up to shore from the boat - which made us feel like we are on a real adventure! The staff person greeted us and helped with... More

Been here with a group of six and enjoyed the lodge, the food (three dishes a day), the area, the service, the free kayaking and the tours. The adventure started with the boat transfer on the Seripe River. During the stay we enjoyed the cabins with Pacific view and sound as well as two activities from the house. Had a... More

We arrived at Pirate Cove by boat, and were helped ashore on the beach by the staff. It was definitely an authentic entry to this off the beaten path resort. We had 2 rooms, one inside the main building which had air conditioning the other free standing with a balcony, hammock and a fan. It was quite hot! We loved... More

I traveled here alone, looking for a disconnect from the grind. I chose to stay at Pirate Cove for 7 nights because I simply did not have the energy to change locations during my 10-day stay in Costa Rica. Arrived via boat (highly recommend), left via Drake Bay airport. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Pirate Cove. They helped... More

I didn't stay here but I did the Open Water Diver referral course with Cano Divers, which is the dive school based in and affiliated with Pirate Cove. I was nervous as I had never dived in the ocean before. And no one at the dive school knew this but my grandfather passed away the day before I was to... More

We stayed in an air conditioned room for a 3 night stay while in Drake Bay. The room was $150/night and included breakfast. Lunch is an additional $15/person and dinner is $25/person. We ate lunch with them the day we arrived and that was the only time. The food was fine, we just didn't want to spend $40/person for food... More

Regarding your comments on your stay with us, I would make just a couple of observations. First, the price you paid was for three adults and the price included only breakfast and room taxes. Many smaller hotels do not include taxes in the prices they quote for the rooms and when you check out you receive a 13% nasty surprise... More

If you are coming to Bahía Drake(especially in September for whale watching), then you must stay at the Pirate Cove. Amazing little GREEN hotel, where nature comes first. Definitely worth every penny or colones you pay!! Since you will be rewarded with a unique experience. From my arrival to my unwilling departure, everybody from the Pirate Cove was very friendly...
