This is a wonderful family run lodge. The hosts are friendly, caring and knowledgeable. It is quiet and has an amazing view of the ocean. The owner is a long time Tico and if you stay here you will enjoy meeting people from all over the world including Ticos. Simple clean cabins with balconies and nice bathrooms and tile showers...

Happy with four night stay here including meals. Recommend highly if you don't mind walking up steep hill. Cold showers a plus. Enjoyed coastal hike and planning trips. Great atmosphere to meet other travelers and make friends. Wonderful views of sunset too.

This might not be the poshest accommodation in Drake Bay but it certainly has the best view. A short steep climb up a track from the beach with beautiful sea views. The accommodation is perfectly fine with a nice balcony, a bathroom and bunk beds.Michael the owner speaks good English. He met me on the beach and took me and...

Our family (two kids 9 and 6) spent a month in Drake Bay and area. This is one of eight reviews of our experience. We spent a total of 11 nights at El Mirador at the beginning of our trip and loved it so much we changed plans to again spend two nights with Michaelle and his family at the...

First of all the service in the hotel is amazing, in example they've offered and prepared for us a full breakfast even though we came after 2 hours the service was over. There is quite a steep walk to the hotel which other hotels do not have, it may be slippery so one must use caution . The plus having...

At this price, I wasn't expecting anything amazing. I just wanted a place to sleep and eat the night before my trip to Corcovado. Michel, owner/everything else, met us at the beach, took our stuff up, checked us into spartan but immaculate, full functional rooms and fed us absolutely first rate meals, all the while keeping us laughing at his...

Michael the owner is incredibly sweet. Helped arranged for a tour and was also very good in arranging a boat shuttle to another hotel down the coast we had reservations for. Beautiful view across the bay from the lookout above the cabins. Yes they are basic, but clean, hot water, and no need for A/C once evening came and fan...

First impressions were a bit disappointing: the cabinas are literally four wooden walls with some mosquito net on the windows and a bathroom. Oh, and an amazing view of the beach below. We dropped our luggage and went out and for the next three days we left the room at dawn and came back late at night, happily exhausted, showered...

We spent six nights at Cabinas El Mirador Lodge in Drake Bay and we loved every minute of it. Michael, our host, was so friendly and responsive to anything we needed. The breakfast each morning was filling and delicious. The views everywhere on the property are gorgeous of the bay, including from the balcony of our cabina (and our open...

This smaller, humble little place will always be special to us. My wife and I originally visited back in 2003, when they had fewer cabins and Drake's Bay had just gotten electricity. Fast forward 12 years and we were able to bring our 2 young children with us, retrace our steps and share the experience with them. The owner picked...
