The location is very convenient for my work, barely a 5 minute walk away. The room is very familiar to me as I spent almost 3 years living in it between working on sites in the east and project office work in 2009/2012. The apartments are fully serviced with a reasonably equipped kitchen area, reliable wifi, power backup with generators cable TV and a daily maid service that can be used or not at your own whim. For instance at weekends I didnt need the maids and this was easy to arrange by selecting the Do Not Disturb option on the door electric panel.
You can chose to use the same day return laundry facilities or use the washing machines available in the administration block. There is a friendly and well equipted gym, pool, sauna and massage room on the site and even though it is not free has a discount system with prepaid card to maximise the value for money.
All the staff I had dealings with are friendly, genially keen to help and make your stay enjoyable and stress free as possible.
There is an onsite privately run restarant Manny's that has a good range of national and international cuisine at reasonable prices (with a discount for residents at the hotel) and very convenient if one cannot be bothered to cook every night.
There is a great range of local shops for vegtable, fruit and drink a stones throw from the hotel and a small supermarket a short walk along the road. A greater range of restaurants are available in either direction but especially in the Jamal area some 20 minutes walk past the Jawakhel roundabout, There is also a modern shopping complex with several small fast food outlets and a cinema complex a short walk past the Jawalkhel roundabout in the Labim Mall.
In short a very nice and comfortable hotel away from the tourist areas in central Kathmanddu. Highly recommended. I will be staying there again when I visit Nepal in the near future.

I lodged with this facility for three months. The hotel staff are very friendly and supportive. They go the extra mile to assist you. The owner of the property is so kind that he gave me gifts during the Nepali festival as well as christmas and new year. This was so amazing to me because I have never met him but he had me at heart.

The hotel manager really assisted with with a good rate due to my long stay. I enjoyed a good discount on my daily rates.

The entire staff here are a family and they treat their guests with respect and honour.

The room is cleaned well and the guests is often asked if they have any problem with the facilities.

I enjoyed my stay here

After many visits of a week or longer, the Shaligram feels like "home away from home." the accommodations are always clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. The quiet atmosphere in the center of a very busy, accessible location is wonderful. The new fitness room is well equipped and the new elevator in the Residence Building makes it very convenient.
Manny's restaurant, on the premises, offers a wide variety of food, all well prepared. I recommend the Shaligram to anyone visiting Kathmandu for work or play; you will not be disappointed.

I found the Shaligram to be a very comfortable place to stay in the Jawalakhel area of Kathmandu. The hotel facilities were very comfortable and the location is unbeatable! The only downside was the construction going on next door (but this didn't bother us in the room).

The roof offers great views of the surrounding area and should offer amazing views of the Himalayas if the pollution isn't too bad.

Note, there is no elevator in this hotel so if you stay in the top floor it is a long walk up the stairs.

Thank you very much for writing this excellent review. We apologise for the construction on our property although it is not very close or distracting to guests living in the current hotel wings. We are adding one more wing with an elevator to access all floors. We hope this will enhance the Shaligram experience further. Namaste Best Regards, Anuj Mathema

We have stayed here multiple times. Great service and good location for Lalitpur. We stay in a big apartment/suite with a kitchen that is very roomy and comfortable. The rooms are not 5 star quality by American standards but are in line with other properties we have tried in Kathmandu. There is a restaurant on property that I do not believe is associated with hotel. It is convenient and the service is friendly. We will stay here again.

We love our stay in Shaligram Apartments.❤️ The location is very strategic.👍 Hospitals, pharmacies, restaurants, groceries, and Labim Mall are very near. You can walk to these places anytime. There's an in-house restaurant called Manny's and I love their pork chops.😁 The place is very secured and peaceful. We have daily housekeeping services (that we like the most). Hot and cold water supply is continuous. We have everything in the kitchen (utensils, cookware, plates, etc.

As for the people, the staff there are very nice, from the Manager (Tashi), down to her subordinates like Kalpala, Suzala, Sumita, Pramod and others. All of them are very hospitable and that's why we love and we can stay there for a very long time. These people are like family to us, like siblings.🙂

Next time you visit Nepal, check out Shaligram Apartments in Jawalakhel, Kathmandu.

Thank you so much Shaligram! I'll be back in October! 🙂👍

Me and my friends were on holiday in Nepal, but due to the coronavirus pandemic the Nepal govt did a sudden lockdown. We shifted from another hotel to Shaligram Hotel and took one of their apartments from the end of March until mid June. The hotel and staff looked after us extremely well and in the safest way carried out their daily duties. We felt very safe and comfortable at the hotel. It has large grounds so one can walk about the premises to stretch ones legs and relax as well. Thank you Shaligram!

My 6-day stay was overall good.
Friendly staff with a beautiful garden.

The location seems handy, near the central zoo.
Around the place, there are so many nice cafes, restaurants, fruit shops.

Initially, I’d like to thank Tashi for her helpful tips and welcoming warmth, which made my journey easier and more relaxing. Also, Tashi is the best sales person I’ve met innNepal, she picked up my call at late night time and made an instant arrangement for my stay. So much appreciated! Thanks Tashi. We had several conversations about cultural exchanges. Brilliant experience!

Drawbacks:
1. the old Nepali apartment slightly smells, probably resulting from the rainy season.
2. The rate is a bit overpriced, but fortunately I got a free upgrade.
3. The shower facility looks a bit too old in the room, so the hot water came inconsistently with a relatively small volume.

Btw, this is the only picture I took from the property<

I have stayed in the Shaligram Hotel on many occasions over the past 3 years and I expect to continue to do so on my visits to Nepal. The staff are always very helpful. The room is comfortable with all necessary facilities and is kept spotlessly clean. The location is great for local restaurants, shops and other facilities. All in all the hotel has everything needed for longer stays in Kathmandu.

I have been staying at the Shaligram for years which is, in itself, a statement of satisfaction. The rooms I have had are comfortable with good beds and furniture. All the facilities work as expected, and the hotel has now added a fitness center which is well-equipped and available to all guests. The management is helpful, friendly, and fully competent which means that I have had excellent service when I have needed to make any changes, and there have been no troubling surprises. I recommend the Shaligram highly.
