Driving around Lake Arenal we stumbled into the Brewery and hotel, stopped for a nice breakfast! We were not guest of hotel and they still offered the breakfast to us for only $6 for all the fruit you can eat, and eggs and rice( typical CR food. We bought at shirt and got free beer as well to take on...

We stopped at the Microbrewery to have a snack and get some beer. We decided to take a couple of (6 beers at this time) samples and have some guacamole and chips. The food was great! The beers really refreshing and lots variety. I ended up buying 1 litre of the stout and 1 litre of the German Dunkelweizen. The...

We came here to get food and try the different beers and luckily, we were also able to watch the NFL playoffs during dinner! The menu is large and everything we had was absolutely delicious. The food is very reasonably priced and the portions are large! I had the BBQ pork ribs with plantain ceviche (SO GOOD) and steamed veggies,...

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Nice local feel, amazing microbrewery, and amazing staff. We only wish we would have planned to stay for more than one day. The food was delicious. We will definitely be returning our next trip. The only thing negative that I have to say is that there were no lounging chairs by...

Our experience was better than we were expecting from the reviews. We try to visit all the restaurants in our area from time to time. This was the first time at this restaurant. We were impressed by the mix of clients. Some English, some German, some Tico, some swede. The service was timely. The menu has a nice variety. Mostly...

We planned on one night and stayed for three after finding the place to be so comfortable and pleasant. The hosts were very friendly, the food was abundant and delicious, particularly the Guacamole and the wings. The view on the lake side is unbeatable and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Loved our time here.

This review only pertains to the microbrewery pub . . . my husband enjoyed the beer and appreciated the tasting choices before settling on the pina beer. The food was okay but huge servings; we never would have ordered two meals if we'd known how big they were. The food itself was tasty, particularly the guacamole. So the food was...

When you read reviews looks like it would be a great place. But it's NOT. This hotel has a beautiful view, that's all. Looks to me that it hasn't had any maintenance since it was open like 20 years ago. Paint is terrible, all the furniture look old and with little maintenance and have to be more clean. The lady...

Sorry you had such a bad experience. We have proudly maintained our hotel for several decades! A few things to note: much of our "paint" is actually natural ochre dies sprinkled into the concrete, then polished. We also have some original frescoes on the walls—which use ancient craftsmen techniques...so you're comparing a "paint job" with artistry and it's just not...

We stayed two nights when we visited the Arenal area. Nice basic room with a microbrewery attached . What I appreciated most about LAB was the people (all very friendly and hospitable) and that there was no price gouging going on here, the food was excellent and I just appreciated the home-town, laid-back vibe at this place. Some downsides are...

Lake Arenal Hotel and Brewery is an all in one place, offering it's guests a lovely view of the Lake Arenal, delicious variety of home brewed beers, amazing food, a skate park for the more radical guests and close encounters with a variety of jungle animals ( especially the Howler Monkey) and insect's. The only thing missing at this wonderful...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Is the crown jewel of a 15-acre organic farm and world-renowned green-energy education center in Northern Costa Rica. With dramatic red-ochre pillars and colorful walls adorned with hand-painted frescos, the 21-room hotel overlooks hundreds of acres of Costa Rica's protected jungle and the rainbow shores of beautiful Lake Arenal. Our closest neighbors are toucans and parrots, howler monkeys, sloths, armadillos and occasionally, wild cats such as the Puma Jaguarondi. Also home to Costa Rica's first microbrewery, Lake Arenal Hotel serves farm-fresh food at its on-site restaurant, La Huerta, with an international menu. Come enjoy the relaxed ambience, delicious food and what many of our customers say is the "best beer in Costa Rica" produced on-site by Lake Arenal Brewery. A tennis court, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and fully-equipped classroom are just some of the hotel's amenities. Two flat-screen TVs in the bar/restaurant and free high-speed wifi throughout the facilities make your stay at Lake Arenal Hotel modern and comfortable. Just one-and-a-half hours from Liberia Airport and three hours from the San Jose Airport, Lake Arenal Hotel offers a wide variety of on-site activities and day-tours, including waterfall hikes, horseback riding, sailing trips, kite-boarding lessons, river rafting, zip-lining, rappelling and day-trips to the nearby volcanoes and hot springs. ... more   less
