We were in Iceland in July 2017 for twelve days and traveled the Ring Road, staying at many different hotels. This was the worst hotel by far. I will start with the positives. The food was pretty good for both breakfast and dinner. We had...More

Response from Dísa Rún J, Reception Manager at Hotel Gigur by KeahotelsResponded 13 October 2017

Dear jmp719, Thank you for taking time to write a detailed review. I am so sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We are aware that our rooms are small, and that is hard to change, but we will look into your comment and...More

We booked two single rooms at Hotel Gigur which turned out to be clean and modern, but were the smallest rooms I've seen around the world apart from at Lukla, the gateway to Mount Everest in Nepal. The single bed against a wall on one...More

Response from Dísa Rún J, Reception Manager at Hotel Gigur by KeahotelsResponded 13 October 2017

Dear dadndoc, Thank you for your kind words, although I am sorry to see that we were not quite able to impress you with our facilities. I am glad you used your time walking to the pseudo craters and even though the flies (Mýflugur) are...More

My wife and I had lunch at the Hotel Gigur as a part of a cruise ship tour - party of about 50. The food was exemplary and served by adequate staff and Management. Not at all like traditional "tour lunches" and much appreciated! Hats...More

Room can only be described as Spartan. Beds are cot-sized--smaller than twins. Twins would not fit in room. No dresser or other storage beyond few hooks and 1 shelf. Only amenity is hair dryer. Shower could be described as capsule. While we were here cold...More

Dear Bill L, I am sorry to see that you did not like your room at Hotel Gígur but delighted to see that you have rated our staff as excellent - which they truly are! Thank you for staying with us and for leaving a...More

Hi Folks, The rooms are the size of postage stamps. We had to be very creative with our luggage. The water smelled strongly of Hydrogen Sulfide. The view was nice of the lake with all its water birds. I must thank one of the young...More

Response from Dísa Rún J, Reception Manager at Hotel Gigur by KeahotelsResponded 11 October 2017

Dear OldeBear, Our rooms are not very big, but by Lake Mývatn it is all about the nature so our guests spend most of their time outside, walking to the pseudo craters, looking at boiling mud pots or bathing in the geothermal water. Thank you...More
