The hotel is at the south end of Lake Myvatn right opposite the pseudo craters. The hotel is a little faded and feels a bit dark in the public areas. The rooms were a reasonable size, not huge, but quiet, and with nice views. Bathroom is fine with heated floors and a good shower. We had dinner at the restaurant,...

I lead photography workshops for Muench Workshops. We booked our group into Sel Hotel in March of 2017. Fantastic EVERYTHING! The staff was very attentive to our needs and very friendly. The rooms are clean, comfortable and large by Nordic standards. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are soft. Food: breakfast was varied and plentiful. Fresh fruits, make...

I stayed here for 4 nights as it's a good spot to watch the aurora borealis away from city lights. We could actually see them from our bedroom window which was a bonus. We could also see the pseudo-craters from our bedroom. We decided to go out walking during blizzard conditions and when we got back to the hotel it...

Nice hotel at myvatn area. Room was spacious and clean for a triple. Shampoo conditioner provided. Reception guy was really helpful when we needed help. Hotel also offered optional tours like snow mobile. Breakfast spread was good and delicious. Worth the price to stay. There's a self service gas station outside hotel

Hotel Myvatn is a family run hotel and although it looked like it needs an update, it somehow exudes a very cozy feeling throughout. The hotel is relatively well maintained, it just looks like the décor was done in the 90’s and never got updated. The building is very spacious, as are the rooms. The bathroom is of a comfortable...

Yesterday we stayed in this hotel! It was lovely! The room was spacious, clean and cozy! I can see the Lake Myvatn in my room and so the view was fantastic! The service was good too due to the Northern Light Wake Up Call provided by hotel! Both dinner and breakfast were amazing, especially the breakfast was very generous! If...

Just came back from 2 nights at the Sel Hotel. Very happy with everything! The hotel is very charming and it feels very homey. The rooms were exceptionally clean and spacious. Great views everywhere! The staff was very helpful and nice. We were able to see the Northern Lights right outside the hotel. Loved everything.

Had a family room for one night. Room large but very outdated and in desperate need of refurbishment. Dinner in restaurant very mediocre. Best thing was wake up call for Northern Lights. Breakfast fairly plentiful. Staff okay.
