2 weeks before we arrived, we were emailed by the hotel to say that the reservation we'd made 5 months ago was considered invalid as they'd overbooked the rooms and we couldn't stay there. They magically found us a room when we told them it was our anniversary however. The hotel and the rooms themselves are beautifully designed, and this...

ION sits between both industry and nature in a delightful setting. Across the field is a geothermal power plant which is strangely comforting and mountains surround. The hotel is fun and the rooms comfortable. The pool is lovely to sit in with a drink at any time. Make sure to ask the staff to turn up the heat in it...

The hotel is is the middle of nowhere essentially. We went for rest, relaxation, and access to the outdoors. It delivered. You can literally hike right out of the hotel up amazing trail into the hills/mountains. There is a whole network of trails in the area that are well marked and great hikes with amazing vistas. Typically we shared the...

We were on a driving holiday through Iceland staying at lots of hotels for one night. ION Luxury Adventure Hotel was our last stop and we were looking forward to being pampered. Sadly, their service was terrible, food average and the hotel is getting a little tired. Service: We emailed two days prior to arrival requesting two massage spots and...

This was our most anticipated stay in Iceland and was the most disappointing. Where to begin... The hotel was expensive - $530 - making it our most expensive stay. To top that off this was the ONLY hotel where breakfast was not included - which turned the cost into actually well in excess of $600 Our room was small and...

This hotel is isolated and next to a geothermal plant, and those are the reasons you go there. The hotel was initially built to house the workers building the geothermal plant. A hike around the plant is fascinating, as it provides the hot water for Reykavik. Hot mudpots and steam make for an interesting trek. The hotel itself is pretty...

I was highly anticipating my stay at Ion Hotel as seeing pics of it online was one of the main triggers for me to visit Iceland. Unfortunately my stay at Ion ended up being the only disappointing experience in an otherwise amazing country. I booked a Deluxe room online 4 months in advance but when I checked in, they told...

No doubt a very trendy "Design Hotel" series hotel. Unique architecture, a mecca for interior design enthusiasts. The spa whose highlights is the geothermal pool is a treat! The rooms are also nicely finished, however, here is a warning. Ensure not to stay in rooms 402-404. They are isolated rooms behind the hotels kitchen and although enjoy their own privacy...

The ION Hotel is certainly one of the more unique stays I have had. The architecture and design of the place is really interesting, but you have to keep your expectations in check if you plan to stay here. The most important things to know are that they have two different type of rooms - Deluxe or Standard, and both...

The location is certainly outstanding the access to hiking trails was great and one of the members of staff was very knowledgable, the quality of food in the restaurant was exceptional and the service in the restaurant was good. Considering the price of the hotel the customer service was poor, we were not told about breakfast arrangements and could not...
