We had a very nice airy room with a view across the valley to the mountains. Clean as a whistle, with a friendly staff. Best of all, after a long day hiking we were able to soak in the geothermally heated hot tubs. A great breakfast buffet topped it off.

While it looks simple from the outside, the hotel rooms are nicely appointed, great bathroom, clean and all the amenities. I don't generally take a bath at hotels, but after a day of hiking it was perfect. The tub was clean and big and the hot water was never ending. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are warm and the...

I stayed here for three nights and enjoyed my stay. The room was light and airy, the bed comfortable and the bathroom fully functional (apart from missing flannels and cotton wool). Staff was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.

The hotel is outside of Selfoss (around 15 min drive). The rooms are nice and the view is nice too. Breakfast was generous. Staff was adequately friendly. What a I didn't like so much about the hotel is the fact that is seems to cater more for the bus (group) tourist. The hotel is pretty huge and lacks a bit...

Our stay at the Hotel Grimsborgir was only a few days. We wanted to stay around Selfoss for our honeymoon to get away from well, everything. We booked a superior room. We arrived only an hour early for check in. The reception staff seemed slightly inattentive from what I am used to for luxury hotels. Given our long flight and...

The room was very clean and updated. Quick 15 minute drive into downtown Selfoss. The breakfast was great with lots of delicious options. I did not leave hungry. The rooms and bathroom were nice and big, and also very clean and well kept. There was a hot tub to use after 5 (but I was too tired to use that...

'A nice hotel in the wilderness with beautiful rooms and hot tubs. If it would be for the room, I would come back. But there is more to it. Service standards are below average. Staff is not attentive, too many inexperienced trainees are working. Wrong food was delivered to the table. At the bar the staff paid no attention to...

Before opening the Hotel Grimsborgir, the owner had a series of fabulous properties in Reykjavik. Then he "retired" to the country and opened this hotel. It was a great place with a very friendly and helpful staff, nicely done rooms, and an excellent restaurant . The rooms were the largest and most comfortably arranged of any hotel we stayed in...
