This was the last stop in our adventure. We arrived to a well signposted area in Selfoss. Once we arrived at recreation we knew we were in for a treat. This is a family run hotel and staff almost adopt you as part of the family. We got to our cabin and were very happy with what we were given....

This hotel like many in Iceland is in a seemingly remote location but is in fact close to the famous "Golden Circle" area of Bingvelir, Geysir and Gullfoss waterfall. Rooms are spacious, spotless and beautifully appointed. The restaurant is very good, offering the best lamb we had in Iceland. There is a small bar with a fire every night (at...

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights on our recent honeymoon. The room was a great size and beautifully decorated with a great view. The breakfast was great and we had dinner on the first night which was lovely (though a little more than we would pay normally). We only used the hot tub once on our last...

Very friendly and helpful staff. We were upgraded to a larger self catering apartment which was more than adequate for our stay. The buffet dinner we had was expensive per person but you have to try it once to sample the Icelandic specialties. The breakfast buffet also had a wide range of choices. My 13 year old daughter appreciated the...

We spent four nights here, staying in one of their small apartments, and had a great time. The food was excellent, especially when they had the a la carte menu available; on busier evenings they have a buffet which was also very good, with a huge selection of dishes. Breakfast was the usual delicious Icelandic spread of meats, cured fish,...

I booked this restaurant for a surprise 50th party for 12 of us for my husband on 19th October, as we were on a weeks holiday (also a surprise ) in Iceland. I had been in contact with the hotel for about 9 months and every email I sent was answered promptly and satisfactorily. The hotel could not have done...

Stayed here for one night during tour of Iceland. Our room was big, luxurious and well worth the four star hotel rating, although very warm. Mini bar had drinks etc available, albeit quite expensive, unless you wanted to walk up to the building where the restaurant and bar is situated (2 mins walk), where they may have been cheaper. We...

Stayed here for 2 nights and we are so thankful we did! We had no specific itinerary as we were on a road-trip through Iceland, and had a reservation for only one night at Grimsborgir. Upon waking the next morning, we felt like spending more time in the area, and decided to book another night at the hotel. That evening,...

The rooms are well appointed and the in-floor heating can't be beat. A great place to see the Northern Lights because it is relatively remote. Hot tubs are constantly filled with hot water. The breakfast included in our package was great and the dinners were good. The only comments are that the staff could use some training and the wireless...

Well run and well kept property. Nice clean rooms with great views of mountains. Best of all, we managed to see the northern lights from our balcony! Beware of the expensive buffet dinner. At about usd60, it was a good spread of starters but the hot mains were disappointing. Dried roasts were not appealing at all. You are better off...
