Just home from a 2 night family (2adults/2 kids Age 6 & 10) stay at the Carrigaline Court Hotel. Had stayed here years ago and liked it but was really impressed this time round. Got a great last minute deal which included tickets to Fota Island. After I booked online, I got a phonecall the morning after to enquire if I would like to book in for dinner or the leisure centre as it might be hard to get a preferred time once we arrived. I was delighted with this as I would not have thought to book before we arrived.
We arrived on Sat afternoon and after a swift check-in we got to our room which had a double and two singles. Room was really fabulous and it was ideal for the kids. The tipee in the corner was a lovely touch. Beds were top class in terms of comfort and was surprised to see the Nespresso machine as well as standard tea/coffee offering.
Bathroom was spotless and shower was perfect.
Although the rooms are not servied during the stay there was a pack of plenty of fresh towels etc available daily. We use the swimming pool twice and the only fault was that there was no shallow end. My kids have just learned ro swim so were nervous but still enjoyed the pool. The lady on recpetion in the leisure centre on Sunday morning gave me some great routes for a run. She was so friendly.
We ate both nights in the bar and breakfast in The Bistro was lovely. The staff that stood out were Aisling, Caoimhe and Ella and but every staff member we met were highly professional and a credit to this hotel management team.
The food was very nice and if I had to be critical I would say the pavlova dessert was disappointing as it was a small little meringue nest with a little cream and few berries. But on the whole food was top notch and plenty on offer for the kids.
The hotel was very well prepared in terms of its Covid plan with plenty signage and hand sani stations. It was obvious the hotel put a lot of time into their managment of guests in these strange times.
There was a lovely outdoor area to eat for general public to drop by for food.
The location of this hotel is ideal. There is a lovely park about 500m from hotel door and my two kids loved the playground and skate park in the park as well as the lovely lake with ducks. The fabulous greenway from Carrigaline to Crosshaven is a gem and ideal if your a cycling family. There is lots of day trip options such as to Cobh (quick crossing on ferry from Passage West), which has the interesting Titanic Experince, or down to Kinsale, into Cork City or up to Blarney Castle.
We will def be back to stay in this hotel and thank you to all who made our little holiday a great one.

Dear Clodagh, Thank you for taking the time to post such a lovely review of your recent stay with us. We were delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay and experience with us and thank you for all of your positive comments in relation to the food and staff and we appreciate the constructive comments in relation to the pavlova. Thank you for noticing just how prepared we are in terms of our Covid regulations in place. It is so nice to hear that even though the kids are learning to swim, they still enjoyed the pool! We look forward to welcoming you all back to Cork again soon and we are delighted to see we made your little holiday a great one! Warm Regards, The Carrigaline Court Hotel team

I arrived at the Hotel on 2020-1-29. The experience started off on a bad note because I couldn't get Hotel carparking.
After I checked in I was directed to room 138. For a 4 star Hotel my room was incredibly worm with staining on all walls, tired stained carpet and bed linen. The bathroom door was so worn and unpainted and the toilet was leaking.
I mentioned this to the duty manager and was told all my belongings would be moved to a new room. When I returned to the Hotel my new room 151 was exactly the same with NO TV! and none of my belongings.

I was awoken the next morning by a member of staff that entered my room as they thought it was unoccupied and I went down for breakfast to be told my new room number 151 was not including breakfast that I had paid for.
Faulty Towers looked amazing compared to this Hotel. I won't be returning!
A general manager did call to apologize for the experience...

Response from CarrigalineCourt, Manager at Carrigaline Court Hotel & Leisure Centre
Responded Feb 6, 2020
Dear John, We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your recent experience at our hotel. We do strive to ensure all our customers enjoy their experience with us and overall this seems to be the general feedback we receive as can be seen on our current average score on TripAdvisor. The hotel has recently completed a multi-million Euro refurbishment and we are surprised by your comments in relation to the rooms as they are maintained and cleaned on a regular basis by our award winning accommodation staff, who recently won an Irish Accommodation Services Gold Award. We investigated your complaint with management and reception and we were told the following; The receptionist at the desk allocated you a new room, which you said you were happy with without having viewed the room, as you were heading into the town for the evening. When you did come back to the hotel at midnight, you received the key to room 151, however you did not hand in the key for 138 at any stage, hence the confusion regarding if you were moving rooms and the subsequent uncertainty at breakfast. The following morning, the manager on duty apologized and gave you a full refund for breakfast which was above and beyond the initial charge for breakfast. We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment caused.

We went here for lunch in midweek. It was not very busy and as a result we got a nice table. The lunch is carvery and the portions are generous including potato and vegetables. You pay at the counter. A side order of chips, however, arrived after a main course was finished. The deserts were very generous also. The lunch here was very typical of carverys served in other places on the basis of quantity over quality. The chicken curry in particular lacked flavour and taste. If you’re hungry then this may suit. No doubt it would improve the more pints you drink.

Arrived on Saturday to the hotel after driving for 3 hours to get there from galway only to be told that the room we had booked would not be ready for 45 minutes even though check in is at 3 and we arrived at 3. We did not complain we went and came back 50 min later only to be told the room was still not ready and to wait another 15 min. The receptionist was apologetic however just handed us the room key and walked away, failing to mention anything about breakfast even though we had booked breakfast for the morning and did not tell us anything about our dinner reservation that we had made for the bar that night. Very unorganized. The room was fine and the bed was comfy however breakfast was a disappointment. We were seated and a girl took our orders but failed to come and Check on us after the food was put down (we were 1 of 3 tables that were in the restaurant) , I was waiting to ask for ketchup and my juice needed to be refilled. To sum up, the service was definitely not up to standard for a 4 star hotel however it is in a good location, would not return.

Dear Caoimhe, We are sorry to hear that your stay at our establishment did not meet your expectations. In your review, you state that your room was not ready when you arrived even though it was after the established check-in time. We are sorry to have inconvenienced you, as our hotel was at full capacity the day before and due to families that were late checking out, the rooms were unavailable. You also stated your disappointment with breakfast. Due to the current global pandemic, you can appreciate that the hotel has enhanced measures in place to provide safety to customers and staff and thereby reducing the engagements with customers, which previously would not have been the case pre covid. Please accept our most sincere apologies. We hope that your next stay with us will better meet our standard of excellence. Sincerely, The Carrigaline Court Hotel

We spent 5 nights at the Carrigaline Court in July 2021. Upon arrival, check-in was efficient and friendly with a brief explanation of the various locations for food, directions to the leisure centre etc. Our room, 215, was on the 2nd floor, over the outdoor seating for the bar and overlooking the main road through the town. The room was spotless and big enough for 4 of us, 2 adults plus 6yo and 2yo children. As has been mentioned numerous times, this hotel's greatest asset is its staff followed by the food. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had breakfast every morning and 2 evening meals in the bar. We couldn't fault anything about the food or service, everything was excellent. We used the pool each day, I'd advise to book your slot in good time as they fill up quickly. Again, the staff here were friendly and helpful. Due to Covid the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are all closed but the main pool is a good size and never felt crowded. One slight criticism of the pool area is that the exit from the kids pool is directly beside the main pool and if a child was to wander out of the small pool they could very easily end up in the main pool. That being said, there was always a lifeguard on duty very close by but maybe some kind of extra barrier could be useful there. We were blessed with the weather and had beautiful sun and heat every day. The only downside was the room was very warm at night. There is constant traffic passing the hotel so leaving the window open wasn't an option until after things had quietened down. A room to the back would be more suitable and I'd imagine would be quieter. The Carrigaline Court is a lovely hotel with great staff, excellent food in a great location and we'll certainly be back.

We had a family break in this hotel this weekend gone by, it started really badly and really didnt get much better. On arrival to the hotel my partner checked and and I walked to the bar to see our family who had arrived, my son who has special needs, hes on the autism spectrum ran from the bar, I chased him as he's a flight rise and sees no danger, when I got to reception which was really busy with other guests checking in, a silver haired man behind reception shouted at me you need to have a mask on, i said I know, I explained my child was special needs and I had to catch him hence why I hadn't had time to put the mask on, he shouted at me twice in front of other guests, then when I angrily answered him back, I was extremely stressed with the situation, he put his hand to my face and said, I'm not speaking to you. There was zero regard for my child who has a disability, the level of stress I was under and how embarrassing it was to me. I complained to a manager who came to the room,he apologies to me, said he'd investigate and come back to me, he never did come back to me. Many children and adults have disabilities and these 4 star hotel really should have training to be able to deal with this. I was left feeling like not spending time in the common areas of the hotel and I knew there would be other incidents with my child, as a result my son and I spent a lot of time in the room. To add to this already bad situation we couldn't get a booking for the pool even though we were booking day before, in the end I got a cancellation but it wasn't without some firm words, the pool changing areas were not clean, the stem and sauna were closed. The room were not serviced only towels and loo rolls left at door, seemingly a covid rule however I've stayed in two other hotels recently and they happily services the room. We spent €600 in the hotel foe room, food, drinks and it was the worst money ever spe t as it was not one bit enjoyable. One positive we had was with a waiter in the bar called Chris, he looked after our family both evenings and couldn't have been nicer and more helpful, he was the only saving grace of what was a bad weekend. The man at reception and his behaviour was truly upsetting, there was zero follow up from management, very bad experience all round.

Dear Lisa, Many thanks for your feedback which we have taken into consideration. Following an internal review, we do feel that comments are unfair as they don’t paint a compete reflection of the events that transpired during your stay. Safety of our guests and employees is of paramount importance at the Carrigaline Court Hotel, and we have worked hard over the past 18 months to ensure that we have adequate processes and procedures in place that adhere to the regulations. Such procedures include the requirement for a meet and greet member of staff to greet the customer on arrival to our bar, and after guiding the customer to their allocated table, to explain the procedures relating to table service ordering, for guests to remain seated during their visit, and the procedure in visiting the restrooms. Upon arrival to our meet and greet team, we noted that you did not have a face covering and our team had to remind you of the signage and policy relating to wearing of such a covering. It is surprising to hear that your child managed to make it to the hotel lobby before you managed to stop them, especially given that you highlighted that they are a flight risk and your allocated table was a good distance from reception. As you mentioned, our reception area was occupied with guests awaiting check-in, all of whom would have been required to adhere to the policy relating to wearing of face coverings. Our reception team have a duty of care to protect visitors to our hotel along with fellow staff members, and when the gentleman in question noticed your appearance into the lobby without an adequate face covering, apologised to the person he was checking in to pause the process, and to firmly and politely remind you of the policies, and you have yourself said that you angrily replied on numerous occasions to our staff and firmly demanded that we provide you with a face covering, which we did immediately. The reception desk is located a distance from the bar entrance and our lobby is quite spacious, so he was trying to get your attention but did not raise his voice in an undue manner. In terms of the other points you have referenced, we are happy to facilitate residents in our facilities such as our bar, restaurant, and leisure centre, but we are required to enforce the policies that are in place to ensure customer and staff safety. Again, due to covid guidelines and the need to restrict visitor numbers due to distancing requirements, our leisure centre operates on a prebooked basis, as highlighted in the confirmation email that our guests receive, and guests are encouraged to make an advance reservation ahead of arrival. Our cleaning procedures are maintained to industry standards, as reflected in our accreditation with Failte Ireland’s Safety Charter certification. We provide towels and toiletries outside bedroom doors each morning, this was not to your satisfaction and the demands you made to have your room serviced during your two day stay were met. We do appreciate your acknowledgement of service delivery by our waiting team and have provided the positive feedback to the relevant staff member. As you will see in the reviews, our hotel does have a reputation for a high service delivery. Thank you, The Carrigaline Court Hotel team

I called this hotel ahead of going there to ask if dining inside was an option if fully vaccinated and not staying there. They said yes, you can eat inside as long as you are fully vaccinated and have proof. You could not book in advance. We arrived only to be told that residents have first refusal and we were directed to the outside area, and told if any of the half-empty bar area emptied out any more we could go in. I asked them to let me know if we could go in as the night was getting chilly sitting outside. They said no tables came free so we had to sit outside all night... be warned... DO NOT Eat here if you are not staying here unless you like sitting outside without heaters breathing in other people's cigarette smoke!!!!

Dear Sir/Madam, many thanks for your feedback which we do take on board. Over the past number of weeks, we have had high numbers of guests staying at our hotel due to the school holidays. As a result, we took the difficult decision to prioritise tables for in-house residents of the hotel given that we have had to limit the numbers of tables due to Government restrictions, and advised any non-residents that unfortunately we could only accommodate dining requests on a walk-in basis. Many of our hotel residents book reservations for differing times, so while some tables may have appeared vacant at the time of your arrival, they would have been reserved for in-house residents with reservations at particular times. As you pointed out, we did state that you couldn't book in advance, so do feel that it is unfair to leave a 1 star review as a result of our staff offering to accomodate your dining request at an available outdoor table. We hope you will reconsider this review based on the service delivery and quality of food both of which are usually of a high standard as reflected in our average score and feedback in reviews. Kind regards, the Carrigaline Court Hotel

Even with COVID19 you would expect a better breakfast of a 4*. Poor standard and quality of cooked breakfast. Things like toast, tea /coffee etc was fine but cooked breakfast very very poor. For the amount of guests in the hotel surely they could cook the breakfast fresh for example the bacon, pudding and even overcooked microwaved scrambled eggs not acceptable. In this time surely a bit of effort by the chef is possible.

Food at dinner nice but desserts very poor. All bought in and no love at all. Perhaps if you are going to offer desserts do them in house and do them right.

1st time is leisure centre and incredible dilapidated. Swimming pool area awful and need major refurb fast. Door frames crumbling around pool / tiles cracked, pain peeling and changing rooms not much better. Awful part of hotel compared to lobby / bedrooms.

Dear Sir/Madam, many thanks for your comments and we are sorry to hear that your experience of our hotel does not seem to match the high standards that we strive for and usually deliver based on the majority of feedback received. Our breakfast items are cooked fresh each morning, and we currently operate a table service as opposed to a self-service buffet due to covid precautions. In terms of dinner service, we have an in-house Italian patisserie chef who specialises in desserts that usually receive high praise from customers. Again, we are sorry to hear that your opinion does not seem to match the regular positive feedback received. The hotel recently undertook a multi-million Euro refurb, and we are certified as a 4* property by Failte Ireland. We have a large base of local members that enjoy our leisure centre facilities, as well as returning hotel guests that make use of the facilities, all of which are regularly maintained and meet all safety requirements. We aim to exceed customer expectations and usually achieve high feedback scores on sites such as this, so we hope that you will consider returning again in the near future Best wishes, the Carrigaline Court Hotel team
