Beautifully renovated Solar with exuberant gardens and a great SPA. Very comfortable and clean rooms with well maintained bathrooms connected through a mirror wall. The breakfast is very well served and the staff makes you feel at home.
We choose this hotel to end our trip around Northern Portugal for some rest and relaxation and were not disappointed. The rooms and bathrooms are large, clean, modern and warm. The indoor pool and spa facilities are also good. The breakfast they have to offer is second to none with something for everybody.…
I stayed here for two days and it was perfect. There was an indoor swimming pool (it was big but it wasn't very warm though). The jacuzzi was warm and relaxing. The beds were comfortable and there were a lot if international TV channels. The hotel is close to the town Amarante and the hotel staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was delicious. I had two wonderful days here…
This is a lovely hotel, within easy reach of Amarante yet in a very quiet rural location. The reception staff were all very helpful. We stayed in the original old part of the hotel and the room was large and beautifully decorated with a grand private balcony. The grounds are well maintained and the indoor pool is good. We didn't use the outdoor pool, but it looked nice. The breakfast was very good. Our room was next door to the bar area and so noise disturbance would be a potential problem. However apart from someone trying to play 'happy birthday' on the piano one night about 11pm, the bar was very quiet during our stay. There is little to do in the immediate area, but there are a few restaurants and the hotel do serve some 'snacks' apparently. Amarante is quite pleasant for a stroll around the old part of town and it is pretty by the river. We had a grand walk along the old disused railway ( The Ecopista I think it is called). About 18 kilometres there and back. Easy walking on a good surface with good scenery and interesting views of rural life. In fact the thing we enjoyed the most during our week in The Douro area.…
Most things were adequate, but not outstanding. The plastic cups in the room instead of glass was cheap. Ours were cracked which we didn't realize until port went in and just as quickly went out. The night staff did not follow through on our request for an early breakfast, but the morning desk clerk was great. It was very nice that they fixed the early breakfast. With a little more attention to detail, such as real glasses, the hotel would be nicer. The room was smaller also than other rooms I stayed in.…
