Me and my wife spent some days in Chaves with our two dogs, and this was the only place we found that could accept them. It's outside the center of Chaves, on the route to Valpaços, but very near the city limits. It's a rural vila, with a wonderful service. On the first night we had dinner on our room,...

Quinta Da Mata is a beautiful old home in a spectacular setting in North-Central Portugal, a few miles outside of Chaves. We loved everything about it. First- the owner is the most exuberant and friendly host you can imagine. A real outdoorsman, adventure traveller, and family man, we even Skyped with his son in the states Next, the grounds are...

Spend a week in relaxed atmosphere. Is an old house and that shows in the good way, the authenticity is restored / preserved, Drawback was the small bed. Nice to swim in the pool and to spend time in the garden. Several good restaurants within a few minutes by car. Free WLAN, breakfast sufficient, e.g. fresh orange jus. Nice view...

3 of us stayed for 3 nights as part of our motorcycle tour of Northern Spain and Portugal. Splendid old Quinta, full of character, and run on a strong self sufficiency ethic. Comfy and relaxed atmosphere, with roaring open log fires in the sitting rooms. Great locally produced red wines available at very acceptable prices. Luis is a really friendly...

This is much more of a family run old house / inn. Full of history with rooms akin to something out of a game of thrones castle. Staff are friendly and it's good value for money. Main downside is relatively weak wi if but that's made up for the charm and character of the place. Food is simple but fine...

I offered a two-night stay at this marvellous spot to my parents and myself...in order to prepare my mind to get back to work. The property is lovely, the service informal and friendly...and the food...amazing. Took some time at the pool relaxing and tanning and enjoying the view to the city at a distance. I will come back...soon!

Fantastic reception from all. Beutifull grounds stuning views. The rooms are lovely. The whole place is of old and very well kept. We were well cared for after our long motorcycle ride. The owner even took us to a resturant and collected us for no extra charge. Definately going back.

After traveling in Spain for 3 weeks, we needed some down time before touring Portugal. We had a wonderful time recharging at Quinta De Mata. The staff was amazing and very accommodating. It really is a family friendly environment. I felt at home. My two boys enjoyed the pool and grounds. I loved the stone house and history behind it.

This is the type of place you just won't want to leave! We arrived on a chilly, rainy night to a fire in the fireplace and 2 glasses of port. The "wow" moments began immediately! Quinta Da Mata felt like home right away with the warm reception from the owners. They make you feel like family. The setting is beautiful...
