Las Palmeras Affiliated By Fergus hotel is often praised for its friendly service and prime location, situated conveniently close to the beach and local attractions. However, some guests have experienced issues with noise, particularly from nearby nightlife and construction. The rooms are recognized for their spaciousness but are frequently criticized for being outdated and occasionally lacking in cleanliness. While the amenities are generally satisfactory, with a variety of food options and a commendable level of overall cleanliness, calls for refurbishment, particularly in the pool area, are common. Despite the need for some updates, many travelers feel the hotel offers decent value.

Ideally located in front of the sea and close to all amenities. To avoid the noise of bars in the evening, it is advisable not to opt for a room with street views. The pool is small and there is only one person in charge of activities from morning to night. The hours of the children’s club are set at one hour of the day, with a program that changes every day, always led by the same person responsible for global entertainment.
The breakfast buffet is varied and correct, the only downside being that there is no cooked omelet on site. nor fresh orange juice , fruits and vegetables are roughly cut .no soft drink or juice for dinner

Just returned from a week in this hotel, and I can safely say it is absolutely NOT a 4* standard hotel.

Once you pass reception, the hotel is seriously run down and in desperate need of refurbishment and repair.

We booked this holiday as a very last minute get away in the sun with my husband and a couple of friends, and in whole out stay was fine for what we had planned - a cheap week in the sun - however we would have been seriously disappointed if this was our only holiday of the year and we were expecting to arrive to a 4* standard hotel.

Pros-
-Reception, restaurant and rooms were modern and clean.
-The cocktails from the bar were amazing and very fairy priced at €7 considering the bars around were €7.50+
-Location is amazing, surrounded by shops, pubs bar and the beach is literally on the otherside of the road
-Entertainment staff were great, especially the guy from I think London? He was so friendly and great at getting everyone involved, we didn't have children with us but I noticed how great he was with those who had children and encouraging them in games.
- Breakfast was nice typical buffet style with something for everyone
- The pool is on floor 5, which meant that there was always a nice breeze so sunbathing was pleasant

Cons -
- as mentioned, it is SO run down, worn away carpet in all hallways, plaster coming away from the walls, painted floor around the pool all flaking away, pool is grimy, balcony area all the paint is coming off the railings
- air con in room basically none existent, myself and my husband had to keep getting up in the night to have cold showers as we were both just waking up dripping in sweat as the room was so hot on a night
- balcony area I can only describe as is a concrete block
- pool area as nowhere near big enough for the amount of guests this hotel holds, pool area opens at 10am and you need to be queuing up at 940am if you want to secure a bed, people just put their towels on them and dissappear for the day and noone removes the towels making it difficult to get a sunbed if you're not there to que up.
- the housekeeper only comes once a day, we were in room 386 and she came at about 9am and if you were not ready for her to come in we had to wait until the next day

Overall I would say this hotel is a 3* at best. The location is great but there are plenty of other hotels around within half a mile radius I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We stayed here Half board for the bank holiday extended weekend.
Hotel reception clean and tiled – walkways to bedrooms reminded me of a hotel in Blackpool – carpeted and very hot and dated.
Breakfast was great – good selection of a variety of English breakfast – pastries – continental breakfast, hot drinks machine, orange juice machine and water machine.
Dinner time – again variety of selection of foods – lots of salads, fish and meats, pasta / carbonara sauce – its okay if you want simple for a couple of days.
Downside to this I thought – no alcohol selection – only wines on tap white, rose and red at dinner time, water also, no fruit drinks ( or what I didn’t see anyway the machine was always closed and only open at breakfast time ) No beer or any other sort of alcohol.
I did think that being half board or even full board alcohol would be included but NO, you do have to purchase your alcohol which I thought was very disappointing – Happy hour was available but again why would I be paying for half or full board to not have alcohol included.
Bedrooms were cleaned daily, tiled rooms, we had a room at the back of the hotel which was very noisy come 3:00 in the morning with lots of drunk people shouting and screaming outside, also construction going on outside the building and lots of drilling early hours.
Great location near the beach to walk, lots of shops and restaurants around the area.
Was okay to stay for the bank holiday long weekend but don’t think I would return here again and would maybe try another hotel.

This is my 3rd time at this hotel but I will never return. I shared a room with a friend of mine but in the last 3yrs we have had 18/20 older woman stay there at a cost of a few good few thousand pounds. We stayed for 6 days on the second day I had a shower and decided to hang my brand new linen skirt on the rail so I could wear it that evening and was hoping the creases would fall out. I went to the beach and on my return only 4hrs later I went into the bathroom and it was gone. I called reception straight away and was told the cleaner probably removed it by mistake with the towels as the room was cleaned. I explained the notice on the wall states towels on the rails will not be replaced in the Interest of saving water and towels on the floor/bath would be replaced. She said they use an outsource cleaning company and she would check in the morning and come back to me, she did not and for the next 3 days I had to keep going to the reception to get updates as they never called me. I then met with 2 managers of the hotel who again said they would look into it as the cleaner and company said my skirt was not found. I asked for him to drive me to the cleaning company as there was only 2 options either the maid had it or it had to be at the cleaning company and I could find it if I went there in the lost property, he refused. I ask to be reimbursed as I had not worn it and it should not have been removed from my room. He then tried to imply which was very condescending that maybe I didn’t bring it and I would find out when I got home, I was extremely annoyed by this as I hung it only 4hrs before in the bathroom. I asked him to take a photo of it from the website I bought it from and send it again to the cleaning company. I was checking out that day and he promised again he would call me and even took my email address. I was moving on up further in Spain for a week to meet my husband and I did not get any calls or emails. It was not the cost of the skirt but the principal that it should never have been removed from the towel rail and I should have been reimbursed for it. I explained I would order it again at the desk and they could pay for it as it is part of a set and I really liked it, he refused. He then had said I could have a late check out as compensation which was again annoying as I had checked out as I was travelling to meet my husband. I think there customer service is disgusting given how much money we have spent in the last 3yrs and not to keep me updated by phone or email. Never again.

This was our first family holiday in a long time and we all had a great time ! The hotel itself is well maintained from the reception area to the restaurant. We booked rooms 702 and 704 which have an amazing side view of the sea and over look the swimming pool. The rooms are sufficient enough to accommodate large families like ours, that include wardrobes, a mini fridge, and the tv in the room was the biggest plus point in keeping our children occupied. We booked half board, so breakfast included the full english items along with the continental choices, and dinner had an even better spread from the fresh grilled section, to pasta, fresh salads, fruit and desserts, there is always something for everyone which is replenished regularly. The hotel is very conveniently situated in the city centre, close to all the local shops and eating places, along with the beach just a few minutes away. The only downside is that there are a few bars and disco’s at the front of the hotel and this generates a lot of noise on a night, and this is something families need to be aware of when requesting their rooms. Our rooms 702 and 704 were located towards the back of the hotel and we slept peacefully at night. The reception and restaurant staff are generally friendly and respond to any queries promptly except for one person on reception (not sure his name though) when we checked out in the early hours of the morning, we requested him to call our transfer company as a reminder but he refused to and told us that it’s simply not his job to do so, even though I’d spoken to the lady on reception the day before for the same thing and she promptly called the transfer company without hesitation in a friendly manner, so this is something to be also mindful of. Overall we left the hotel very pleased and happy with our stay.

Went over for xmas 24th - 28th and found this as at crazy price less than ÂŁ35 per night with breakfast and dinner included so when reviewing that has to be taken into consideration I can't be expecting the ritz at that price. Location is fantastic close enough to all you need yes there will be some noise from nearby bars of course but didn't trouble me on my side the few pints in the evening may have helped that!!

Food was fine plenty of it and good selection agree with earlier reviewer it was busy and loud in there but to be expected again if its an intimate meal for 2 you're after this is not it. Wifi in the room which was massive was perfect and free of charge cleaners all very friendly towels on tap if you needed them. All of the staff actuallly where hard working.

If you're after a boutique hotel this is not for you if you want something on a lower budget that is clean and comfortable to get your head down, have a bite to eat and be very central then this is the place for you in my opinion.

Everything was nice, location, service, food and people. Very close to the beach with nice restaurants and the city center. You can shop at cheap prices compared to Germany in terms of clothes, shoes and everything else. The service of the workers was great. Every morning the towels were wiped and changed, and the covers and mattresses were changed. Thank you to everyone at this hotel. Greetings, Al-Maliki

Booked this for a quick get away for myself and my mother. I can now say this hotel is definitely NOT 4*. I would give it 2* if that. The hotel is dated, rundown and absolutely stinks of damp throughout the whole building. Room was cleaned daily (only positive to this hotel) the a/c in the room was absolutely non existent and the same as the fridge I even checked it was plugged in and was astonished when it was. Can’t comment on the food as only had cereal and fruit for breakfast as seeing all the miserable staffs faces and the smell and general unkept feeling around the hotel completely put me off. The pool area is tiny, not enough sun loungers and there hard plastic so couldn’t lay down on them. We ended up going to the beach every day and paying to use comfortable sun loungers. We had a room at the back which builders started work at 730 am which wasn’t great. On the final day we checked out at 12 and went to the beach as pick up wasn’t until 7pm on return we asked to use their facilities to clean and freshen up after a day at the beach and was told the only shower there is was in the communal pool area. We had to shower with bikini on (for obvious reasons as there’s no privacy in there) had to them use our own sandy towels to dry! Absolute appalling when I questioned the staff of the use of an empty room to shower and freshen up in the looked at me like I had 3 heads! I wouldn’t return here if I was paid too! Don’t waste your money.

Positives - location, on the front, opposite the marina and close to the many bars and restaurants of Fuengirola. Maids make up your room daily. There ends the positives.

The exterior of the hotel looks like an Eastern European cold war tower block. Inside the reception area is light and airy if not garish and sterile. However, you don’t have to look too far to see the cracks. Crumbling plaster, threadbare stained carpets, dated decor and a general feel of apathy from the hotel management. The reception staff were at best ambivalent and at worse dismissive and arrogant.

The apathetic theme continues into the restaurant with unhelpful staff and the same garish, sterile lighting contributing to a feel of eating in a staff canteen. The food was average at best.

The bedroom was an average size but doesn’t look to have been updated for 30 years or more. If you are unlucky enough to have a room at the back of the hotel, the view is as bad as I have seen. It consists of a car park, skips, outbuildings in a state of disrepair and a building site. Talking of which, the hotel that is being built right next door will take many months to complete and you will be woken at 07.30 every morning by banging, drilling and shouting.

The whole pool area is dilapidated and needs a complete overhaul. I have never seen anyone up there.

If this hotel is 4 stars then the Ibis I stopped in last month was 15 stars. I have been coming to Spain for 40 years and this was like a step back in time to when us brits were easily pleased and just happy to be abroad. Times have changed, customers have much more choice and next time I will choose to stay elsewhere.

We had a great 6 nights stay at Las Palmeras. The location of the Hotel is excellent, 5 minutes walk to train station and bus station ( we used train and busses a lot), beach across the road, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs, bars, cafeterias close by. Rooms are great size, very clean, with comfy beds, small fridge in every room. Lovely balcony with table and chairs. Bathroom again great size with bath and shower! There is no toiletries, except of soap in soap dispenser. We choose option with breakfast only, and we loved it, absolutely everything you could ask for, fresh and tasty. Hotel staff polite and friendly, our favourite was Alba, Marina and Connor - constant smile on their faces, happy to chat and have a jokes.
The Hotel is not perfect, it is dated, tired and smelly in places. The construction work around the hotel is ongoing, so you can expect some level of noise. In our opinion it is exceptional value for money, if you want perfection, pay for it.
Swimming pool- great size, but very, very cold.
No iron to borrow !
Bar and Lounge area - perfect!
Pool table, football table, darts - perfect!
Overall we had amazing stay, we met great people, we visited beautiful places, we saw some breathtaking views and we tasted delicious Spanish food. Our advice would be : embrace, appreciate and make the most of your holiday.
Thank you Las Palmeras!
