The rooms are relatively new and as fantastic as the photos, featuring great views of the coastline. Our apartment, being a penthouse (we stayed in the Two Bedroom Sky Villa with Pool), had access to the rooftop where you can grill and enjoy a private pool (a bit too cold / windy in winter though. Pool is not heated but I'm sure great in summer). They had a well-equipped kitchen, which we used to prep meals multiple times during the stay. There were a few niggles, as is normal with newer properties, but when we pointed them out, the staff were able to sort them out for us in a timely fashion. Maybe the only small complaint is that the room only had one shower.
The residences are not close to the beach (15-minute walk down with some quite steep sections towards the end), but it is a quick drive or you can take their regular shuttle service to get down there. To be honest, you really are there to stay for the many facilities though!
The residences were separated out as separate apartments from the main hotel (Higueron Hotel Malaga, Curio Collection) with services and reception all based in the main hotel.
If you have a car, you can choose to park it with the valet staff at the main reception or self-park in the very spacious and secure parking just below the apartments.
Although it's separate from the Higueron Hotel (we booked with Preferred Hotels), you get to access all the amenities, including access to their spa and one class per person once a day. Their spa featured the biggest hydrotherapy circuit I've ever been to, their gym was likewise massive and featured comprehensive workout equipment as good as any commercial gym, and their classes were numerous and any staff we met here were friendly. They also had plenty of padel and tennis courts to rent.
All the staff were really attentive, in particular Roman and Paula, who were attentive to our every need, recognising us and being very friendly when we bumped into them around the resort. We also interacted with them many times via WhatsApp during the stay and they were very responsive in helping us with room requests, organising activities, booking spa and classes, as well as dinner, etc.
Finally, they offered numerous restaurants on-site, in particular, Michelin-starred Sollo was a highlight. Definitely join in the tour before dinner if you can (you can meet the chef, tour their 'fish garden' and learn about their sustainable practices (hence their Green Michelin star) before enjoying their fantastic tasting menu.
