Nestled in a central and convenient location, the Leonardo Hotel Fuengirola Costa Del Sol garners praise for its cleanliness and friendly staff, who are noted for their attention to detail and efficient service. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and stunning views, a few guests point out their compact nature and signs of wear. The serene atmosphere of the hotel, complete with occasional lively entertainment, offers a quiet retreat. However, opinions on value and amenities vary, with some visitors finding the pool area and half-board options lacking despite enjoying the superb breakfast offerings.

Stayed for a week mid June.

Weather was fantastic, which always helps any holiday.

The hotel is well placed in Fuengirola, being less than 10 mins walk to the main eating and drinking areas, but also with plenty of places directly around the hotel. The hotel is virtually on the seafront, and we had a room on the 11th floor with fantastic views of both the beach and marina, always something to watch from the balcony. There are bus stops about 5 mins walk from hotel, with the L1 line taking you to the main shopping centre, Miramar centro. The train station is just over 10 mins walk, going to Malaga along the coast.

The hotel has been recently renovated, but I dont think this has been a bare bones job. The public areas on the ground floor and the restaurants been done very nicely, also the rooms have been redecorated and refurnished, but the bathrooms dont seem to have been included, though they are still pretty decent.

Personally we would say this is not a family hotel, there is no kids club, nor any entertainment, and the pool is very small, more of a plunge to cool off than anything. As a hotel we would say it is more suited to couples.

The breakfast is well worth having as part of your board, as there was a good choice of items, and decent quality. Not sure the evening buffet is such a good choice, we didn’t feel the quality was quite there, but at least at €17 per night it is an affordable option if you don’t want to go out.

Unfortunately the biggest weak point at the hotel is the pool. While good money has been spent on the rest of the hotel, the pool feels unloved by comparison. The sunloungers while mostly in good condition, could do with a good clean with some bleach to remove the marks on them, and the extra cushions for the loungers could do with replacing, as they are pretty much all falling apart. While we were there, the sun umbrellas were being replaced, going from largish white canvas items that did a good job, to some silly brown rafia items that were 2/3 the size and turned inside out at the slightest breeze, as it can be very windy on the deck.

As many have mentioned there are not enough sunbeds, but there is probably space for a dozen more which would improve things vastly. What does not help though is the mentality of those who reserve sunbeds first thing in the morning only to turn up late afternoon! And then have the cheek to attack staff because their towels have been removed for bed blocking!

Also the pool water is a milky colour, likely caused by excess sun tan lotion, clearly the filter could do with sorting, also a little more care for the decking area, which is sticky in places with spills, and the odd bird dropping, a bit of love and attention and this could easily be a great area. The food and drink on offer in the pool area is excellent value, you would be hard pushed to eat cheaper outside the hotel at lunchtime, and the quality is good as well.

Would we stay again? Yes, despite my criticism, the staff are great, the position of the hotel excellent, and the rooms are really nice, just a shame about the pool deck!

We loved this hotel it was the perfect location for walking to the local bars and restaurants.

We booked B&B, and the breakfast offering was really good, with plenty of choice and every taste taken care of. We booked a pool view room, but we're pleased to have been given a Seaview room, which overlooked the beach and the harbour.

We spent a lot of time in the Spanish area, which is a short walking distance from the hotel. Some great bars and restaurants, and we definitely soaked up the spanish Feliz Navidad atmosphere.

As the weather was a little mixed we used the hotel spa a few times, 15 euros for 1 hrs, you then have unlimited use of the steam room, sauna, jacuzzi pool & pool with powerful water jets for your neck and shoulders.

All hotel staff were friendly and helpful, whilst my Spanish is limited, they did appreciate it if you tried to speak a little.

We caught the bus 1 day to Mijas, just 1.60euros each way. It was really worth the visit, a traditional Spanish village it even had a flamenco dance display in the village square when we were there.

We have never been away for Christmas before, but this hotel suited all our needs, offered a good breakfast, and the room was well equipped with a fridge, nespresso machine, and plenty of tv channels. There is air-conditioning and heating in the room, as well as blankets and additional pillows in the wardrobe. There is also a safe for no extra charge.

We paid 30 euros on our departure day for a late check out, taking it from 11am. to 3pm. instead.

We would look to return to this hotel and resort at Christmas again.

We have just returned from the most enjoyable hotel that we have stayed in for a long time. The only thing that lets it down is lack of evening entertainment. But that doesn’t bother us as such as we like to go out. But the odd night in the hotel would have been nice. Everywhere in the hotel is spotless, the food is beautiful, we did half board ie Breakfast and evening meal. There was plenty of choice at each meal, it was hot cooked lovely and so tasty. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis again spotless the towels are lovely thick white bath sheets which were lovely and soft. Bed linen was clean too. To be honest we couldn’t fault anything. We will certainly be going back at some point in the future.

Lovely welcome on arrival and an upgrade too, thank you for the sea view lovely. The morning lady on reception (long dark brown hair) apologies for not getting your name was very friendly and helpful when we asked for local information each day. The housekeeping excellent, the rooms are very smart, I always bring a kettle (not good with coffee machines 😂) we received a couple of tea bags/coffee/milk everyday, a small thing but I was impressed with the fact that after a couple of days, it was noticed we did not use the pods/sugar and were not given extras, therefore no waste. Fresh fluffy white towels, lovely sheets. Nice balcony, no where on the balcony to hang your smalls, but I did notice there was a line in the shower. I have one anyway, but this could be a winter thing. Breakfast, lovely, lots of selection and hot, we had also booked dinner, again great selection and very good. The restaurant staff also very helpful. If you are wanting wall to wall entertainment, then this hotel would not be for you, but we were in the winter season, and loved it. We would certainly return. The only reason I gave a star less is and this is for the management, 2 very small issues, we booked with Jet2 and on their details it quoted an ironing board(therefore presume iron available), which in general I would never use but due to a wardrobe malfunction, on my part I needed an iron, on asking the night lady on reception I was told it was not possible due to health and safety, and I could use the laundry!! when I stated it was on the Jet2 website, she asked me to prove, so off to the room I went to get my phone and then I got my iron. This is a National company, which we have used before, very strange. On speaking with friends in another hotel they did not have this problem. Lastly we had to be on the sea front for 7.45am on our day of departure, breakfast started at 7.30am, on asking for an early breakfast we were offered a picnic, which would of consisted of a sandwich/fruit and water, unfortunately I have dietary issues, so we could have breakfast at 7.20am, but it was a rush. A little earlier would have been nice thank you. Little things but mean a lot.

We stayed many times in this hotel when it was the Florida Spa and this was our first visit under the new ownership of Leonardo Hotels. They have made some improvements particularly in the public areas and the hotel has a comfortable feel. We booked a superior room which seems to mean a high floor on the sunny side of the building and with a balcony. The room had super large bath towels and the tv had a number of English language stations. Even though the room was directly opposite the elevator doors, never a great choice, it was relatively quiet.
Breakfast was very good with the possible exception of the bacon which, generally in Spain, appears to have excessive amounts of fat.
Unfortunately, with the exception of the New Years Eve Grand Buffet which was excellent, the evening meal was quite poor. Food was lukewarm at best and lacked premier cuts of meat and chicken options.
All staff especially those in the restaurant were most pleasant and helpful. The housekeeping staff also did a great job and everything was clean and tidy.
Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would return.

The location was perfect. First impressions give the suggestion of a luxury hotel but look closer, two of the gents toilets and one of the ladies near the restauruant were broken for the whole 2 weeks of our stay. The room was good, comfy beds, quiet & dark at night. The atmosphere in the restaurant was peaceful & calm even when it was busy at breakfast. Very few people stayed for evening meal. The food was not 4* quality the deserts were boring, the same every single night: cold rice pudding, a dish of custard with a biscuit on top, 2 very similar cakes, small glasses of mousse with sprinkles or a few berries on them, 3 ice cream flavours. The mains were tasty but lacked imagination and lacked items that go together. Was there any beef in the beef lasagne or the bolognese sauce? They tasted good but had no substance. The pork stew was labeled beef, tasty but if you can't eat pork!! The hotel appears to want to be B & B only and a business hotel not a 4* holiday in the sun holiday. HOWEVER my main issue was the shower, you expect poor water pressure etc on holiday but this was DANGEROUS you could set it to a comfortable temp and suddenly it would go red hot and you had to jump away then it would return to temp. Imagine a child getting scolded! I am a retired lady & dare not wash my long hair under it, I ended up filling the clean bucket from the bin with water and kneeling to wash & rinse my hair. You could have the cold tap on to clean your teeth & sometimes it would almost stop flowing. The first excuse given when I complained was " it's because of the fair" then "I'll send the handyman up". It was not value for money, I chose this hotel expecting quality as we had walked around inside before. I was wrong we could have got something better & cheaper. It is very overpriced.

Just returned from a week in this hotel. It’s lovely. Very clean, and lovely friendly staff. The rooms are large and cleaned every day. The bathroom in our room could be nicer, it was a little shabby but served its purpose. The safe is free to use which is a nice touch. Large tv which has English channels. Ceiling fan and air con.

The only slight negative is the pool. It’s very small and has seen better days, but it’s cleaned with a robot every night and water tested. We personally never had a problem getting a sun lounger every day and there was no mad rush to put towels down in the morning. There’s a very nice bar/cafe poolside that serves very good meals and drinks etc.

The breakfast is one of the best I’ve ever had on holiday. A huge restaurant which serves the breakfast of your dreams. There’s so much on offer you’ll be spoilt for choice! Far too much for me to name. There’s even a chocolate fountain. The tables are cleared immediately and everything is spotless.

The location of The Leonardo is excellent. A very short stroll to the many bars and restaurants along the front, and beach is literally a 2 minute walk across the road. Also there’s a very convenient shop right on the corner where you can buy practically everything.

Excellent hotel. Scrupulously clean. Friendly helpful staff. Nice pool - not freezing and no real "deep end".
Wonderful restaurant with fabulous buffet choices of cooked and continental breakfasts. Different types of milk choices for those with allergies. Dinner is also buffet style with traditional type meals also curries/stews and italian, good range of deserts and the home made tomato soup was delicious. It is 20e per person whatever you eat plus the wine which was cheap at 10e a bottle. The hotel is 12 storey high. We were on 11th floor with a superior room which was a good size with a big balcony overlooking the marina. The beds are comfortable and the aircon very quiet and efficient. Rooms are cleaned every day and Tea/coffee facilities topped up. Plenty plugs for charging tablets and phones and great mirror facilitiy in the ensuite with decent hairdryer. Plenty wardrobe space although could have done with more hangers. There is also a safe which is easy to operate and free.
Furngirola is good for families and couples. There is a funfair facing the hotel and lots of bars and restaurants. The area is flat so good for people with disability problems. Wine is 3e per glass for rioja at most places.

The Leonardo hotel in Fuengirola is ideally placed for the beach and for shops and restaurants. It is built to a good standard and furnished really nicely. Bedrooms are lovely with great television reception (especially for those from the UK)

Breakfast is up there with the best of any hotel I have stayed at in Europe.

The Staff, from reception to cleaners, are all really friendly and speak good English.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

The only negative that I see is that the pool is very small and the sunbathing area is not large. Therefore, this hotel may not be suitable for a two week summer break. However, the beach is only a couple of minutes walk away.

We arrived 4 hours ahead of check in. We were able to leave our bags in the store room and went off for lunch and a walk about. We checked in and went up to the twelfth floor, no issue any day in getting an elevator... Fantastic view of the harbour and beach. We had an issue with our room safe. Within 5 minutes of reporting to reception, 2 maintenance men attended and fixed it. Our room was cleaned everyday and if you want to be extravagant you could change towels everyday. Nice king suze bed, superb aircon dealt with the heatwave easily. The restaurant is laid out well, plentiful breakfast buffet, normal buffet quality. Sergio and the team work hard to keep everything topped up and tables cleaned. Free safe, solid WiFi, deposit for pool towls returned when you leave. The pool is quite small but adequate for a cool dip. Down stairs repection bar areas are nice, there is no rubbish entertainment acts in the evenings, rather more quiet ambience.

The hotel is just a 10 minute walk away from the Train and Bus stations. Really good to get around the area. Malaga, Marbella and Ronda triangle. We found the better restaurants to be around the calle Moncayo area.

Late leaving at 18:00 checked out at 11:00. Bags back in the store room. Used the pool, went out for lunch a lazy day pre busy airport and journey home. Having a shower area would be a fantastic addition to the facilities rather than a wash and change in the toilet.

If we return to Fuengirola in the future this would be our first choice option.
