What a lovely place. Must be the Jewel In the Greene Kings' crown. Got the food order wrong but was efficiently rectified which is nice. Superb setting for a wedding reception which I'll bear in mind in the event it happens to me. Lovely gardens and friendly staff.

We went for a business ouch and we both had the pulled pork sandwich. The food was very good and I will definitely go back again. It was very busy so it was a bit noisy and be warned my mobile wasn't very good. I am just being a bit picky! Good job They could do with a bigger car...

We stayed at The Bear as we needed a dog-friendly place while meeting relatives for a celebration nearby. Our room was on the ground floor of a quiet annex with French windows opening straight over a tiny bridge onto the lawn. The main part of the old hotel has a lovely enclosed courtyard area which must be wonderful for drinks...

Again we weren't disappointed, Roger and his team have everything well organized and the food was plentiful and tasty. We stayed in room 41 overlooking Bear Island, lovely room very spacious. My family stayed here for one night in late December. We also had dinner. The hotel was refurbished a couple of years ago and it shows. All three rooms were very clean and comfortable. At £60 B&B per room, this represents great value. We had a wide choice at breakfast and the food was good. Unfortunately, the same cannot be...

We stopped off in Hungerford to break a journey and were very pleased we had chosen the Bear. It is a very nice hotel and both the receptionist and our waitress at dinner were very pleasant and welcoming and took good care of us. There was lots of parking and it was only a couple of minutes to walk to...

We had a magical couple of days at the Bear, from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day. First of all, the staff are amazing, - so hard working and nothing is too much trouble. Every one was friendly and super welcoming and created a fun and festive spirit all round. The food was spot on in every respect, well thought out...

The Bear is a lovely building, well located, decent parking, good size and nicely decorated. The food is also very good for the price. I went for the lamb shank and it fell off the bone - it also left me without room for dessert. It was the finishing touches that let the bear down a bit in the end....
