We have just stayed at the Old Croft House, sadly for only one night! We received the warmest of welcomes with a cup of tea and a piece of delicious home made cake served shortly afterwards in the lounge area. It really is a lovely house (home) obviously re-furbished to retain the original character of the property whilst providing all...

I stayed at The Old Croft for a weekend with my girlfriend while I was doing a navigation skills training course in the area. I had booked the Superior Double, which is a beautiful large room at the front of the house and which has an en-suite with a bath and shower. The hosts, Nick and Rachel, are extremely friendly...

I was lucky to have my tour company book me at the Old Croft House for two night - Nick and Rachel were so kind and welcoming - going beyond the call of duty to rescue me from the train station in the pouring rain when I could not find a taxi - Nick drove up to the station then...

We stayed here as we traveled the Coast to Coast walk and I can't overstate how wonderful and convenient the accommodations were AND the hospitality of Rachel and Nick. I had lost my iPhone charger (iPhone was our GPS), and Nick kindly lent me his and after we left the next morning, Rachel even called our previous lodging to see...

I can't say enough in praise of the Old Croft House. We loved the room, the breakfast was wonderful and our hosts welcoming. Nick and Rachael are tops! Tea and cakes to welcome us, made dinner reservations for us and generally made us feel welcome. We stayed at The Old Croft House for a "rest day" while walking the C2C,...

Nick and Rachel were great hosts - very friendly without being at all overbearing. The building is decorated in a comfortable and eclectic way with nice old furniture, quirky pictures and the bed was very comfy. Nice bathroom and plenty of hot water. Footspa in the wardrobe for tired walkers is a nice touch. We were offered tea and cake...

Stayed here as a convenient stopover cycling back from Sunderland. I don't what the competition is like in Kirkby Stephen but it would be very difficult to beat. I can't find any fault whatsoever. Decor is period style - looks like it was done quite recently and very tasteful. Very clean, huge selection of reading material and the best shower...

Four of us were mountain biking the coast to coast. We were due to take 2 days to get from Ravenglass to Kirbky Stephen. The first good thing was we could leave our gear here for when we arrived in 2 days time. When we did actually arrive the hosts not only offered to wash and dry our sweaty and...

I stayed here as part of walking the Coast to Coast, meeting family here part way through. The Old Croft House was the best B and B so far on the walk, friendly helpful hosts, lovely big rooms, great breakfast (yoghurt, fruit, cereal, lots of cooked options), excellent packed lunch for the walk ahead. If I was coming to Kirkby...
