A very relaxed atmosphere, starting when you meet Denise, the owner, on checking in, to saying goodbye when you check out. A basic, hostel where you will find yourself exchanging stories with like minded travelers in the comfortable common areas, before heading off for a good nights rest in the dormitory style bedrooms. This was my second stay here and...

A nice hostel to stay some nights with friends : the place is clean and the living room is very comfortable ! And you will have a warm welcome with Denise. The rooms are nice and cozy, with space. And you can ask for a big breakfast. There is everything you need in the town, shops and restaurants.

Service was poor, we paid £5 for continental breakfast which was very poor. The breakfast food was laid on a tray and cereal was minimal. There was juice in the fridge and bread to make toast. Many pots of jam and marmalade, but they were not nice the jam had gone mouldy on the top, many of the jars and...

We stayed here as part of our W2W cycle tour with 3 families. The welcome was very warm and it's a great venue with bike storage too. Just across the road is a shop (open early until 2200hrs) and there are 2 pubs and restaurants and takeaways close by. The rooms are YHA standard and breakfast can be arranged -...

This might well be one of the cheapest places to stay in Kirkby, but it is in dire need of some TLC. I believe it used to be a YHA but is now independent. It has certainly seen better days. Very basic accomodation, tiny bathroom facilities. A very simple, yet overpriced breakfast. Great if you are travelling on an extreme...

Thank you for your comments, I am very aware that my hostel is looking run down, I spend money on the place all the time, the shame of this is that a lot of it is unseen by the customer. I am independant with the YHA giving up on the building many years ago. I am proud that I took...

Stayed here with a group of mates for a few days hillwalking. We do this often so have experienced lots of hostels and bunkhouses, good and bad. This is one of the best we have ever stayed in. The rooms are basic as you expect in a hostel but clean and comfortable. The converted church is a beautiful building which...

Very good 3 night stay here as a base for walking with some friends Good value, great breakfasts, comfortable beds, clean, and a very welcoming owner, Denise. There is plenty of parking and its ideally situated for access to walking and the town. Will be coming back for sure.

The stay was good for a group of 10 people. We were visiting Lake District and needed to stay overnight on a Saturday. One of our requirements was a kitchen to cook our own food and found out this hostel.Thankfully there were no other groups in the hostel and we could enjoy as well.Everyone is still feeling the deal was worth.

I stayed here for one night during my Coast to Coast walk. I've been 'living' in hostels full time for 6 years, I'm used to looking after myself and was happy to here as the Hostel had everything I needed. Denise the hostel manger was a great help and really friendly.
