Perfectly situated up from Blakeney Quay on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, The White Horse is a just as a modern pub should be – cosy, characterful and stylish too. An extensive range of well-kept, award-winning Adnams beers, wines and spirits are there to be enjoyed – they are often used in recipes to offer something a little different. Our menu showcases a range of pub classics, coastal favourites and indulgent dishes. The 9 bedrooms are cosy and coastal, all ensuite with characterful details. Children under 11 stay for free, and we have one dog-friendly room accessed from ground level where dogs can stay for free too and also welcome with dining (subject to availability).

Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

The White Horse Blakeney hotel emerges as a favored choice for guests seeking a pristine location for coastal excursions, despite some noting the rooms as cozy yet compact and reporting occasional maintenance concerns. While the hotel's cleanliness receives accolades, the dining's value is questioned, as patrons advocate for more cost-effective options. Although the ambiance may lack liveliness, the commendable service and amenities like hearty breakfasts and dog-friendly accommodations contribute to a hospitable stay.

We needed sanctuary in a North Sea squall and found it at the White Horse, nabbing the last room. Lovely old building, flintstone walls, plenty of timber and glass interiors with space and brightness. Adnams tend to get things right in this neck of the woods. A good menu and great selection of drinks as usual. A very central location with its own car park for guests. From the moment of booking with friendly Mel, a welcome from Becca and check out with Jessica, we felt in safe, capable hands. The staff were friendly and helpful. A special mention for the top man Jack, exceptional service in the restaurant along with his colleague at a busy time. In the midst of covid, we felt very comfortable with the arrangements - a one way system, plenty of space between tables, top table service, good cleanliness, track and trace and importantly, sanitiser everywhere, even on leaving the establishment in an effort to assist the community. We wanted to strike off a star for the inconvenience of a fault with the heating in the building - radiators on full blast overnight. We were in a smaller room but it was well equipped and comfortable and offered a view of the quay and marshes - even with the window open and North Sea autumn breeze coming in, the room was still too hot. However, there were too many plusses to counter the markdown, so our score remains as 5 Hobo stars. We would love to return, if you will have us.

A nice place to stay after a long trek along the North Norfolk Coast. Double bedroom and ensuite bathroom were really spacious, and the really long bathtub left plenty of space to stretch my legs and enjoy a drink on the side. Room was cozy with efficient heaters, although bathroom heater was a bit more confusing to use because the symbols did not align. Dinner was prebooked and delicious; breakfast was included in room price and had lots of English food choices. Really satisfying

We were staying for one night and it was the night of the storm. One of the hotel's boilers had broken down and there was no heating or hot water in the bedrooms. A test of a hotel's approach to customer service is how they deal with such a situation and here the manager dealt with it very well. She kept us informed and arranged alternative accommodation at a neighbouring hotel, if we wanted to move, and applied a appropriate discount. The room and the meal at The White Horse were very good.

We enjoyed one night in this welcoming hotel. Our room was comfortable with an excellent view over the Blakeney Estuary. We booked the dinner, bed and breakfast rate and the allowance for dinner covered the cost of our meal - we just paid extra for drinks. The breakfast was very good with a good fresh fruit salad and reasonable choice for the cooked breakfast.

Visited here for a meal before, but this was the first time we have stayed. Service was excellent, very friendly staff, and restaurant food was good, although menu limited due to Covid. We felt very safe, and social distancing observed. Cleanliness was top notch, with plenty of hand sanitizer gels and cleaning stations positioned around the pub/hotel

This is a return visit to the White Horse and we enjoyed it as much as we did previously. Our room, number one, was quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean and we loved being able to enjoy the view down to the quay while sitting on the very comfortable sofa. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly and efficient staff who were very helpful. We appreciated being warned in advance that it was advisable to book dinner in advance because it was very busy in Blakeney and the food was very good, although the menu was slightly restricted due to covid. Breakfast was very good too, and I enjoyed the fresh fruit salad and yogurt. There was an interesting selection of art in the bar, especially the Peter Wileman prints and the Jane Hodgson paintings. We hope to be back next year.

Booked for three nights well in advance - glad we did as it was sold out for months ahead. Our room was compact but beautifully decorated with calm grey colours and had everything we needed in it, bottles of water, good supply of tea and coffee, tv. Spacious shower room. Breakfast was excellent, served at table with traditional offerings such as eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs with salmon. We didn’t eat dinner. Car park was for residents only and to our surprise we could still get in it after the wedding party we were at till late.. Good location a few meters from the beach. On the way home we visited Sheringham which seemed a crowded tourist trap compared to the much smaller Blakeney.

We have just returned form a splendid first visit to The White Horse at Blakeney. This is a lovely pub and restaurant with rooms situated very close to the Blakeney Quay and the Blakeney Freshes. Our room was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean; we were very pleased that bottles of both still and sparking water were provided, along with biscuits and tea/coffee making facilities, and replaced daily. This is an Adnams pub there is a splendid choice of beers and wines and a comfortable pub where we relaxed with a pint (or two) and a pack of cards at the end of the day. The food is excellent and well presented; the kitchen even managed to keep serving when the pub ran out of gas - no mean feat! We particularly enjoyed our walk through the Blakeney Freshes to Cley - especially as the January sun shone for us and the skies were perfectly blue. We also enjoyed our walk around the grounds of Sheringham Hall and our potter around Holt. Overall, The White Horse is a highly recommended base for exploring a lovely area.

A late lunch after enticing coastal walk around wetlands with fresh wind blowing. Hence seeking lunch and warmth walked into the four star rated (AA) Adnams establishment. Service was excellent from start to finish. Ambience was so relaxed. As for the food, the sea bass was exquisite although sea vegetable slightly salty. The bull farm burger was enjoyable beyond expectation. Fresh from new barrel the Broadside was smooth and easily consumed! Congrats all round for great occasion.

Is there parking for residents?

There is a small car park of about 10 spaces, but it does get full on weekends with lunch and dinner reservations. Residents do not get priority so it is first come first served, but we have never had a problem getting parked on the several occasions we have stayed there.

There is 1 ground floor room which permits dogs. I am not 100% but I think it is the family room which is accessed directly from the street. Lovely place to stay!
