Well this is a first for me! A bad review, and the silly thing is I didn't even get the chance to stay there!! It all started when I booked the room, myself and a partner were looking forward to our stay because it had been recommended by a friend! Unfortunately a day and a half before we were due...

It all looks very promising on the menu, (2 different ones on the table plus chalk boards all around the room) but the reality was quite different. I ordered the twice baked cheese soufflé which was a bowl of melted cheesy sauce on an insipid piece of bread. Far too many calories for too little taste. The main course was...

This was our first visit to this old, beautiful pub, we had the set menu of two courses which had plenty of choices, the A La Carte choices were extensive, we had the fish and chips and the chicken fricasse,my partner had treacle sponge and custard which he says was really nice, good portions and extremely tasty, the rest if...

We have had a drink here on many occasions but came for a lovely meal at New Year and so decided to come back for a Valentine's treat. It was a thoroughly delicious meal, starting with tasty mushroom soup with gorgeous warm homemade sunflower bread (my only improvement would be to use local butter) and a blue cheese and walnut...

A Luke warm welcome. A general lack lustre all round service. A hotel that needs updating and given a brand. The food is suspect boil in the bag. The Duck was very pale in colour and the skin was cream. The cabbage had a bottled salad dressing and the rib eye steak small. Nothing wrong with the above except you...

Lovely village pub/restaurant with excellent quality food at reasonable prices to reflect the quality. Not pretentious, just scrumptious. Excellent service and good sized potions. Very busy on a Saturday night so booking recommended.

Went for sunday lunch following a friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. What a beautiful location and we were lucky enough that the weather was nice enough to sit out and have a drink beforehand. We had taken our dog so sat in a cosy table for 2 at the side of the bar, the staff were so welcoming and...

My hubby and me went for my birthday weekend. Very relaxing and the bar is full of atmosphere and the place was toasty warm. I think the large superior rooms r slightly over priced but they were comfortable and well presented but good do with maybe having some furnishings replaced they were starting to look a little shabby. But that...

Rooms are, in our view, clean and just adequate. Noise can be a problem in many but the rear is a better option during winter months or the courtyard. Bar and dining rooms are comfortable and characterful with worthwhile open fires adding to ambiance. Drink choice is good and not excessively priced but food is, from our experience, more speculative...
