Stayed for 1 night whilst doing NC500. Check in easy, room was very dated and dirty with a smell of dampness in room and corridor (room 7) dated can be expected with an old hotel but not dirty..cobwebs on curtains etc. Dinner was poor and breakfast was average. Only good point is the location which is right across from the beach. Not worth £179 and would not return.

My mother used to stay in a B&B in Gairloch as a child and wished she had been able to stay in this once 'posh' hotel. Sadly, I did stay here and wished I had been in her old B&B! I couldn't help feeling it was massively overpriced for what it was and is cashing in on the NC500 and post lockdown / staycation trade. The reception is ok, but the room (despite the excellent sea view) was old and tired. The en-suite particularly was old cream floral tiles and an average at best white suite. Bed was ok from what I can recall but like most things it didn't stand out as one of the best. We ate dinner here for convenience but honestly it’s not worth it. Its pub grub at best and the restaurant has a very tired, cheap feel to it. It was reminiscent of a holiday camp rather than a 3* hotel. Breakfast was ok with continental and hot buffet options but again certainly not stand out. So, here’s the crux of my issue. For £150 I expect better. Much better! I got a 5* hotel in Inverness for that money and a superb boutique hotel on the shores of Lock Ness. I'm sure this review will get a generic response about undergoing renovations blah blah blah and other guests being happy blah blah blah and lots of return visitor’s blah blah blah but honestly, I would spend my money elsewhere in the future. There is only so much a decent location can be justified and sadly this hotel isn't it. Go small B&B, go wild camping, go somewhere else but seriously consider if you want to go here. And no, I didn't complain at the time as my issue is purely about cost. I have no real complaint(s), nothing was technically wrong, and no-one could really have improved my stay. It was just too expensive for what it was. Not good enough Gairlock I'm afraid. Simply not good enough.

Hotel was a bit tiered and in need of a refurb but it was clean, did the job and was a great location, a sea view room is a must. I wouldn’t bother eating in the hotel, breakfast or dinner, there are plenty nice places nearby. Coat coffee on the harbour has fab breakfasts and enjoyed a nice meal at the old inn. If I was to go back I would try one of the guest houses.

Dear LauraE2682, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Gairloch Hotel, I am sorry your expectations at the Gairloch were not met on this occasion. The hotel is at present having some refurbishment work done, However I am surprised by your comments, the hotel regularly gets good reviews on the warmth and friendliness of the building with many guests returning time after time. Thank you again for your comments

Beautiful setting which is why I think they manage to survive. Rooms tired, they have tried putting up new curtains but the thin blue fabric is cheap and nasty. Terrible smell wafting in the window from outside in the morning at the back of the hotel. Covid measures are pointless when they run a buffet breakfast which I found quite shocking. Dozens and dozens of people using the tongs etc to pick up the food, and we watched a mask less boy wandering along the cold buffet using his hands to eat out of the bowls. We left after eating cereal using the spoons from our table. Paid for dinner bed and breakfast only to be told after booking that there was a £20 limit on dinner not mentioned in the booking process, I am not sure that is actually legal 🤔. Restaurant staff were lovely, clearly a good team, management/owners need to give them a break and up food standards. Food used is cheap and horrible, menus basic and uninspired. Such a shame with the staff they have, it could be so much better. Sadly would not go back, forget the setting and stay elsewhere. Not sure why or how ‘Bespoke’ have them as one of their hotels, clearly a chain name to avoid!

Dear Barney17a, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Gairloch Hotel, I am sorry your expectations at the Gairloch were not met on this occasion. The hotel is at present having some refurbishment work done, However I am surprised by your comments, i must state we quite clearly state hands are to be sanitized before use of equipment in the restaurant and i am investigating why the young child was wandering along the table un-supervised, but children under 12 are exempt from wearing a mask at the moment. the hotel regularly gets good reviews on the warmth and friendliness of the building wIth many guests returning time after time. Thank you again for your comments
