Stayed for one night in this lovely thatched quirky pub. Bit of confusion with our room as we were put in the cottage which we felt was a little extreme for one night and certainly not what we paid for but we were told we had 'lucked out'. Had a lovely meal in the pub and soaked up the atmosphere...

Recommended by a friend to go here for lunch. Didn't have a reservation but they had a spare table for us. The place was packed, which for me says it all. We loved this beautiful quaint 14th century pub out in the countryside and the food was unbelievably 5*. Can't say enough about it, tasty, piping hot, freshly cooked. Highly...

We found this wonderful inn on a recommendation from another that was full. A beautifully quaint village greets you with an inn that ouzes character. We were greeted with a welcome as warm as the fire and it was a lovely fire. A lovely olde worlde look and a lovely atmosphere is held within these walls. A delicious looking menu...

This is an unpretentious pub/bistro that is highly rated and rightly so. It does very tasty duck breast with garlic potato mash. It's situated in a quiet part of Wiltshire reached through country lanes but worth the trip.

Had lunch with a friend in this lovely unspoilt pub. The food was first class and the service also. Good range of real ales available also. The pub is dog friendly and there are beautiful walks around this quiet village. I noticed a sign in the pub explaining that the pub was changing ownership. I hope the pub remains as...

We visited this pub last weekend and were the first to arrive just as it opened at 6pm. All the tables were reserved in the main bar but there was space in a room just off the bar. Within minutes the pub was full to overcrowding and we found out that this was the landlord's last weekend after 15 years...

We visited tonight for the first time. This coincidentally was the second night under new ownership of this wonderful little pub. The welcome was warm, the smell of the log fire was fabulous, and the service was great. We enjoyed our meal very much - my husband commented on how nice it was to request a medium rare steak and...

We visited the Compasses Inn with our 4 year old for Sunday lunch after a trip to old wardour castle and we were not disappointed. It's small but beautifully formed, a gorgeous building in a beautiful setting. We booked with Alan online and he fit us in even though they were full to bursting! Food was excellent and service fantastic,...

Stayed over on a Saturday night and took advantage of the great food in the excellent pub with cosy and clean rooms. Would like to return in Spring/Summer to take full advantage of the country location.

We came into the pub and found it quite dark, but we found this only added to the atmosphere. First appearance was the age of the place, you could only find this sort of pub in England. We asked of the age of the building and it was about 14th century with some of the roof beams allegedly from some...
