I believe a refurb was already beginning. Room looked straight out of the 1980s, and was a bit tatty around the edges. Beds were clean and comfortable enough.
Breakfast offered a wide range of local produce in generous portions.

I only stayed for one night as I was visiting a friend and had no complaints about the food, been once before years ago for a meal only. My friend, who lives in Kippen, has eaten there frequently and I haven't heard her complain. It's a popular eating place.
