I had an excellent stay at the Queens Head on my way to England for business and would highly recommend it to others. The hotel is right in the centre of town and so convenient to find. My room was large, clean, quiet and everything was in good working order. The check-in was efficient and friendly, and all the Covid arrangements were properly respected. They very kindly accommodated me with an early breakfast which was very generously sized and very well prepared. I therefore had a flawless stay and definitely look forward to having a chance to go back.
We were warmly welcomed and felt encouraged on seeing covid protocols being strictly observed throughout. Plenty of sanitising! The hotel is close to the centre of town with plenty of free parking just a few steps away behind the Cathedral. Very handy! It's an historic old hotel which as a result is cosy, homely and full of character with a small bar (a bonus) and a wee casual dining room where we ate one of the best plates of fish and chips we've had in a long time! We left happy having been made to feel like valued guests by staff who were very knowledgeable about the area, and happy to recommend local hostelries and restaurants for us to try out. Cracking hearty breakfast though next time I'll ask for the salt to be ommitted from the porridge. I wasn't expecting that! 😂 Good little touring base. Very pleasant stay. Would definitely return.…
Excellent well located hotel. Newly refurbished comfortable rooms. Lovely staff. Superb Scottish breakfast. Grea bar and restaurant. Historic Kelso Abbey just a few yards away. Will definitely stay again
The Queens Head is smart and well decorated and is a really good bar. Having sampled all the others over a couple of visits to the town, I reckon it is probably the best. Clearly they have unusual restrictions in place re Coronavirus, but because they have plastic screens along the whole bar, we were able to sit on a couple of bar stools. Only true pub aficionados can understand how wonderful that felt! Service was efficient and friendly and we enjoyed our visit.
Went on golfing break, spend three nights at the Queen's Head. There was ten of us and they couldn't have looked after us better. The breakfast was well organised, with very pleasant service, great portions and delicious. We ate at the hotel every night because of the corvid problem, there was plenty of choice, great service and plenty of beer. The only problem is the lack of a car park, but I managed to find street parking close to the hotel.
