We were expecting an above average experience for £144 per night bed and breakfast, instead we were underwhelmed. The bedroom and ensuite were both cramped, and the plumbing noises throughout the night made sleeping very difficult. It sounded like someone having a shower in a room above at frequent intervals. Someone vacuuming at 7.45am was also salt in the wounds...

We were recommended to try this for lunch by the village tourist office. The pub has a bookshop attached, which was an interesting adjunct, and there was a small art exhibition in the adjoining formal restaurant area. The bar was busy, the place is obviously popular. The layout was a bit cramped, with some tables on a slight ledge (watch...

We had two nights here, before and after the ferry over to Stornaway . As it was low season there was no live music but the ambiance was fantastic. The room was cosy and clean and dogs were welcome! There's a lovely lounge area with a kitchen to make a brew with an honesty bar. The artwork on show was...

We always go here while waiting for the ferry, mostly just for a cup of tea and a cake, although we have also stayed here in the past and found it very comfortable. The atmosphere is great, with a wood burning stove, but the service can be a bit hit and miss. I love the bookshop. The food is hearty...

We have visited thie Ceilidh Place before. Sad to say, we thought we'd give it another try again. Met by a friendly male member of staff....and it went downhill from there. Waited what we felt a bit too long for our meal. The lunch menu also seemed too restrictive. Meal was merely just ok and looked as though not a...

We went to a few places for food in Ullapool and this was one of the best. Really friendly staff, good atmosphere inside and comfortable. The menu was short, but with some top quality options. The halloumi skewers were delicious, the venison and rabbit pie was rich and full of huge pieces of venison. The mussels were tasty - could...

Wine brought to the table open, Haddock seriously overcooked - or kept warm all day - coating was dark brown, fish was dry and rubbery, had to correct 3 different errors with coffee and desserts. Waiting staff appeared to be either undertrained or poorly supervised, no attention to quality of output from the kitchen. A bit suprising after so many...

This was a favourite of mine in the past but due to a gradually deteriorating service I changed from it as a regular spot. We were looking forward to a simple relaxed lunch here but were so disappointed we left without eating. Despite it being about half full and towards the end of any lunchtime rush we had to wait...

We went to the Ceilidh Place for lunch as it has long had a safe reputation as a good eatery in Ullapool. I'm not sure why this is the case - it's probably a reputation which was built several decades ago, which it is still living off. Since then... it has retained the decor, but it doesn't deserve the reputation....
