This is an exceptional guest house with very friendly and helpful owners. It is set on a hillside overlooking the Barmouth estuary and therefore has spectacular views. Our room was spotless and beautiful with every little detail taken care of. They have a lovely lounge with books, games, maps and a well stocked bar. The breakfast was all freshly prepared...

One of the pleasures of this job is in welcoming people to the area who are not overly familiar with it and helping them to explore the landscape and heritage all around us. So we are delighted that you want to come back and spend longer here. We are glad you enjoyed your stay so much and very much look...

Thank you so much for your kind review. I'm not sure I can respond to 'perfect' without sounding smug(!) but it's very kind of you to say so and it's lovely to be so appreciated. We do hope you can come back again some time and we'll try not to let our standards slip!

We stayed for two nights in room 7. It was a beautiful room, elegantly furnished with fabulous views from the two windows. David and Heather were welcoming, attentive hosts. The breakfasts were superb and we loved watching the birds from our table. I could not recommend this guest house enough, one of two of the best we have ever stayed...

Thank you for such high praise! Generous reviews like yours are one of the things that make all the hard work that goes into running a guest house of this size worthwhile and we do appreciate your comments. Hopefully we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back again very soon.

We booked this as a last minute getaway before our upcoming new arrival. The location is just amazing, with views across the estuary and towards the sea. Our room was lovely with views of Cader Idris and the Mawddach estuary and the sunrise in the morning was a beautiful view to awake too. David feeds the birds below too and...

Thank you for posting your review and thank you too for your honesty. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and very much appreciate all the positive things you had to say. I have to address the big issue however that soured your stay a little, and that's obviously the dogs. There are very few places round...

stayed with David and Heather yet another time and were just as happy with everything as before. Room with fabulous view, spotlessly clean, delicious breakfast and dinner - David's cooking is at least as good as in any Barmouth restaurant. Perfect vacation!

Thank you for your kind comments, especially regarding my cooking. I am always anxious to make it clear to guests that I am a cook, not a chef, and tend to work within my limits, but I love food and hate to serve anything that isn't delicious or properly presented and cooked. It's good that you appreciate my efforts so...

I can only repeat and underline the very positive comments that many others have already written. The food , the rooms, and attention to detail is fabulous and nothing is too much trouble for David and Heather. You don't even need to plan a walk or trip, they have put together route plans and have a thorough knowledge of the...

Thank you for your very positive comments - it's very flattering and humbling sometimes when people are so effusive with their praise. We always wanted Bryn Melyn to be a tranquil, relaxing space for guests to chill-out and enjoy the peace and quiet of our hillside location. We don't have an anti-child policy, but none of our rooms can take...

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Hosts were very nice. Barmouth itself is a little commercialised unfortunately. Walking into town was very easy, walking back was not. Very high hill to walk up. You can get a taxi but they aren't very regular. We phoned and the driver said we would have a two hour wait before he could pick us...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. Barmouth is an interesting place. With a population of only 2,300 it is in effect only a village and yet with over 60 retails shops (all but a handful independent), 5 pubs, a selection of restaurants and...

Wow, what a view! Our first impression (other than the steep hill to get here) was that we could spend the entire weekend just savouring the view out over the Mawddach Estuary. It was stunning, our room on the top floor gave us full advantage. Heather and David gave us a lovely welcome and proved to be founts of local...

The location of Bryn Melyn was the reason we bought it in the first place! We fell in love with the outlook and we are so pleased that our guests seem to fall for it too. But we would not have allowed ourselves to be seduced by the view if there was not potential in the rest of the building...

A lovely B&B, run by a friendly couple. The location is a short walk (down a very steep hill!) and down the road to the main street. The view from the B&B makes the climb worthwhile - it was truly beautiful (our room faced the estuary and mountains). The breakfast is excellent with good options for vegetarians. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your review. We can't do anything about the steep hill that has to be climbed to reach us but we are always pleased when our guests feel it was worthwhile. Hopefully we'll have the pleasure of welcoming you back again - the more often you walk up the hill the easier it gets!

Lovely little B&B halfway up the hill with a stunning view of the estuary. Riding the motorbikes up the road to the house was a little bit challenging but it was definitely worth it. We quite often welcome bikers to stay at Bryn Melyn and they always seem to enjoy both their stay here and the journey too and from as the roads in Wales are, apparently, a biker's paradise!
