We have travelled around Wales for decades and know the Welsh coast and Barmouth in particular very well, my hubby booked this hotel for a weekend treat for both of us and said contact with the team was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, we were also given a choice of room on arrival and chose the larger room overlooking...

Hello pol25, We're so pleased you appreciated our service, and the history behind our lovely house, which the builder, W. Greener, called his "summer castle". The views are the reason the house was built, as his wife fell in love with them.Wales. You will have noted that one of the turrets was being painted, the next project is the front....

Great room, fantastic view, very friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us!!! Excellent menu-you've got to try the hand battered fish and chips!! We had had a great welcome, and we're shown around and given a brief history of this Victorian folly, overlooking the sea. Can't wait to go back!!!

Colleen and I set off on a trip to recharge our batteries, and headed to Barmouth. We elected for the scenic route from Hereford, along the A49 towards Ludlow and onwards to Craven Arms. We then headed for Church Stretton, Berriew and due to my constant nagging about football took refuge in Dolgellau. After watching a lack lustre performance of...

Hello philmckenna, I was so pleased to read that your stay had been enhanced by the information we are pleased to give to guests. There's little else I can say in response to your most generous compliments, other than to express pleasure that our efforts were appreciated and we helped to make your romantic break special. It's the little things...

We stayed at this hotel on very short notice. All the staff were very pleasant ad accomodating. The features in the hotel are superb, beautiful wood panelling, stained glass windows, tiled floors in reception all very opulent. The views from the hotel and our bedroom were superb, lovely to wake up and see the tide coming in . Excellent food-...

Hello Bevkenn. Many thanks for your wonderful review and kind comments. There's actually very little we can add, as you were so fulsome in your praise and honest in your comments. We do try to set standards to match the original natural beauty of the castle and it is gratifying to know these are appreciated. By nature of the fact...

Hello Karen, Thanks so much for your lovely comments; it’s always good to know people appreciate our efforts. Of course, the wonderful views are the reason the house was built in the first place, back in 1892, and they have clearly stood the test of time. We take great pride in our breakfast, and will make sure your comments are...

This hotel is tired, and bedroom and bathroom wise, needs a make-over, and quickly, or this hotel will lose its reputation for being Barmouth's finest. We stayed for two nights; the restaurant was closed each evening. The hotel is an architectural gem; definitely an acquired taste! Great position, great views over the bay....if only everything else matched up.

Dear RH1949 Thank you for your comments. We’re pleased that you got home to Lichfield ok after your enjoyable 2-day break. Our reputation is important to us and we do not rest our laurels on past achievements, particularly on our standard and quality of service, our genuine hospitality, cleanliness, and good food. The reports looked great, the photos of a castle on the hill - magical - booked a surprise weekend for me and husband - visiting Portmeirion and then staying in a castle for the night. SteveJ2586, Manager at Ty'r Graig Castle, responded to this review

Hello KOF, I’m sorry to read that your expectations were not reached on arrival; you were clearly expecting a mediaeval castle and not a Victorian family home. As our narrative on all websites clearly states, the house was built by gun maker W. Greener to resemble a castle, and it has been called “Ty’r Graig Castle” since its construction in...

We stayed at this hotel in one of their turret rooms for two nights just before New Year and it was quite a disappointment. The room itself could do with a general make-over, but the bathroom was miniscule. I know that it mentions a small bathroom on their website, but I've seen larger in my friend's caravan! SteveJ2586, Manager at Ty'r Graig Castle, responded to this review

Dear JayneB, We were sorry to read that you were less than happy with your stay with us. The room has been recently re-painted and we do advise when booking that the en-suite facilities are small. This is not by design but due to space constraints when converting the 120-year old home to a hotel. The shower cubicle itself is...

Position good; amazing views; poly-cotton sheets, artificial flowers (yes!) on the tables even in the dining room. No newspapers available, and hard-working polish staff milling about while we were forced to listen to loud commercial radio at breakfast. This cost us the same as far better places in the area. It could all be fixed inside a morning. Why don't...

Dear Megaposs, Thank you for your review but it’s very difficult for us to take it seriously when there are so many inaccuracies. Hello Pazar, We're so pleased that the welcome and show-round we always give was appreciated, and that we lived up to your expectations.
