Myself and 6 friends have just spent a sewing weekend together. What a success! From the time we arrived we were made very welcome by all the staff and felt very safe with the Covid measures in place. We had a lovely room to set up our sewing machines and remain socially distanced from each other. During our stay we found the breakfast and dinner menus very much to our liking despite differing dietary requirements. We all very slept well and commented on the comfortable beds and lovely pillows. We will certainly return and would highly recommended a stay here despite the spa not being available temporarily.

We came for a three night inclusive stay whilst permitted by the regulations. We had an excellent time, the staff were all friendly, cheerful and couldn't do enough for us. We dined in the Spencer Brasserie - same table for breakfast and dinner - good menu, plenty to choose from, well presented and delicious. The reception staff were very helpful in providing us with ideas of what to do and where to go. We followed the town Heritage Trail - we thought it would last an hour but in the end it took three! Very interesting. We also visited the Elan Valley - stunning! Overall, an excellent hotel and area to visit. Recomended.

Just been in with my daughter for a coffee and cake. I love the ambience of the hotel, and normally just have coffee, today decided to have what was said to be home made cake, never had such a small piece of sponge, we both laughed when it arrived. And it was dry, not good. The staff seemed friendly, except for the one who was serving us, head down, would not say anything, I think he just didn’t understand English.

Had a two-night stay in early October. We've stayed here before and were wondering how the hotel would cope with the COVID-19 outbreak, but needn't have worried. They have a great routine worked out, including almost permanently-ongoing cleaning... and we basically had our own restaurant table for the duration of our stay, with no-one else using it. The only down was that the evening meal quality and options weren't quite up to the usual high level, but given the massive problems facing the hospitality industry at the moment, this is fully excusable. Yes, the spa and pool weren't open, but we knew this before as we'd had a look at the hotel website and (although some guests appear not to have noticed this) there is a major epidemic going on out there, with very strict regulations in place. This is the most beautiful old building, and we loved our room. Thank you to all the staff, who really looked after us. We will be back, hopefully in happier times.

Absolutely brilliant stay in a great old hotel. All necessary covid measures were in place, the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome and were very attentive to the table service. The hotel was busy but there was enough space to allow social distancing and clear signage pointed out all the relevant details. Menus could be accessed via a hotel app and there were plenty of hand sanitisation points. The standard of service was excellent as was the Rev James! We had a meal booked on the Saturday night which was spectacular and once again the staff were excellent. A great weekend and enjoyed by our whole, socially distanced party!!
